If people are filling Jerry cans (is that a racist term?) at petrol stations, they should be given a Safety Data Sheet.

Somehow, I don't think that's happening.

I agree.

And, even if it was I'm sure most or all of the sheets would be treated the same way as the COVID-19 information sheets that were being given to "returned travellers" upon arrival at Perth Airport (and probably the rest of Australia's airports) 4 or 5 years ago.

Thrown into the nearest bin. Unread, of course.

Just topped up at BP Orrong.

$2.60 per litre.

Thanks, Diaper Don   Roll Eyes

It’s only suddenly dawning on the elite that this will impact far beyond simply getting to work.

The costs of all goods and services are going to skyrocket.

If you think the pandemic protests were terrible I don’t believe this country has seen the levels of violence and protests or poverty that are coming unless the government can find a solution.

FFS   Roll Eyes

They remove half of the fuel excise from today, but petrol stations won't drop their prices straight away because they've paid the full tax on the fuel sitting in their tanks at the moment.

When there's a rise they do it immediately but when there's a reduction they hold off for as long as they can.

Criminal bastards.

Yes. Some people sell cheap Chinese import guitars that cost 2/3rds as much to make compared to quality ones and sell them just 15% below quality ones.
Talk about scam.

I myself was given an old Philipino acoustic guitar made by the Malingin family sisters. Mint condition. Highly rated.

You're just upset that his scams are better and more productive than your pathetic Democrat scams.
Even their best scam: Joe Biden was a complete failure and had to be replaced.
First President in history to be fired by his own party Grin

And post my full post numnuts, if you're gonna quote

You can want to end reliance on fossil fuels while still being structurally dependent on them in the present, those two positions are not contradictory, they are simply an acknowledgement of reality during transition.

Look at the instability we're dealing with now because of the recklessness and incompitence of Trump and his handpicked DEI Secretary of War. When your energy security is tethered to volatile regions and erratic leadership, you don't get sovereignty, you get exposure.

If Australia weren't so reliant on fossil fuels, a poorly conceived and executed conflict wouldn't ripple through our economy with this kind of force. Fuel prices, cost of living pressures, supply shocks, all of it becomes amplified precisely because we've failed to insulate ourselves.

The real hypocrisy will come from those who complain endlessly about rising costs and instability, blame everyone in sight, and still run political cover for Trump, all while sneering at "lefties" for proposing alternatives.

This isn't just about geopolitical shocks. Oil is finite. That's not ideology, it's basic resource reality. Even without incompetence abroad, scarcity is baked into the system. The only question is whether we manage that decline deliberately, or get dragged through it chaotically.

Should that not be a reason to support clean, renewable energy anyway, now that we see how quickly everything falls apart when supply is interrupted, even if in this case it's because of an incompetent foreign government?

Or are the calls from the right for a sustainable Australia just a hypocritical cover for racism?
