Travel insurance and war.

Well hubby is now saying no way he wants to go overseas with bombings RE: Iran.
He says he just wants to stay within Australia.
I’m saying if we go to south sea islands, it’s far away from Arabian countries!

Then I thought I might look up insurance exclusions, and war, terrorism aren’t covered.
But cruise companies will refund your trip, but not flights.
I hadn’t checked if plane companies compensate, but I recall during COVID, we had flights booked and I did get it as a credit to use at a later date, which I did.
But the warning is not to cancel your flight but wait till airline cancel the flights if you want a credit.

So now I know why people book holidays about 2 years ahead of time!
But I dislike booking more than 6 months ahead of time.

I saw one cruise. 25 days, trans pacific, from Sydney to Seattle with stop overs at Honolulu etc from $2,000 pp
But initially 6 sea days, 2 ports, then another 5 sea days then 4 ports, then more sea days.

TBH, if I have more than 2 sea days I start to go stir crazy  Grin

But wow, $2000 for a cruise to USA beats flying cattle class.
I can’t stand long plane flights. But 25 days at sea… there’s a month gone plus time to see USA. Visit rellies. The other thing I dislike is being away from home more than 2 weeks.

Still, these trans pacific cruises are cheap as!

Anyway, I might look up the Ghan and see Ulluru.
Inland, in Australia.

I always say and feel that a good holiday minimum is four weeks.
One week to get over leaving Australia, two weeks to absorb and enjoy the holiday and one week to psyche myself up to return back to Australia.

That’s the beauty of being able to do loan redraw against home loan. If we don’t do this now at our age while we can still walk, then when.  Smiley
