With the Gulf states warning that they may have to turn to the Yuan rather than the dollar, China will also be looking to tone this down. China has learned, by long observation, what happens when a nation's currency is bound to oil and the gargantuan military overhead required to defend it.

TACO mischaracterises Trump's strategy style.

His 'strategy' is the adult equivalent of infantile destructive tantrum-throwing... 'If I don't get what I want to eat, I'll smash the plate'... If plate-smashing threats don't work, the child will likely defer action and focus on histrionic actions, e.g., head-banging, thrashing about, and verbal abuse.

He never intended to carry out the threat... it was a histrionic outburst to get his way.

His tactic is always to 'shock' people into compliance and bending to his will, by sheer outrageous verbalisations and acting out... as, seriously psychologically-precarious, children do to their care-givers.
