Araghchi's poor and incomplete tweet and the incorrect creation of ambiguities regarding the opening of the Strait of Hormuz
▪️ Seyed Abbas Araghchi, our country's Foreign Minister, tweeted a few minutes ago that, due to the ceasefire in Lebanon, the Strait of Hormuz will be fully open to the passage of merchant ships for the remainder of the ceasefire.
▪️ This tweet by the Foreign Minister, published without necessary and sufficient explanation, has created various ambiguities regarding the conditions, details, and mechanisms of passage, and has also drawn much criticism.
▪️ While various conditions are stipulated for this issue, one of the most important is the full control of the Iranian armed forces over the passage of ships, and this passage is considered cancelled if the proposed naval blockade continues.
▪️ Posting this tweet without any verbal or even sufficient written explanation is a complete failure to communicate effectively, and it's clear that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs itself must either reconsider this type of communication, or the Secretariat of the Supreme National Security Council must fulfill its responsibilities and, in addition to properly communicating within its own sphere, create a more coherent and better mechanism for informing and monitoring certain institutions, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), Iranian gunboats opened fire on a tanker in the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday after Tehran reimposed restrictions on the vital shipping route. The vessel’s captain reported that two boats belonging to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) approached the tanker about 37 km (23 miles) northeast of Oman and, without issuing any radio warning, allegedly fired on the ship, the UKMTO said in an online statement.

It appears that the US intends to take control of Hormuz, likely intending to act as the permanent gatekeeper of the Strait.

Next will probably be the denationalisation and US militarisation of the area to ensure that no nation-state other than the US controls the Strait.
