the US “was in an inferior position in any contest of wills” because its interests were less absolute, and its reliance on public support far greater, than Hanoi’s.

This parallel with today is a predictor of where US (and everyone) is headed.

More than a million Iranian citizens have been mobilized in case of a possible ground confrontation with American forces, the Iranian Mehr news agency reported.

' U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower wrote in his 1963 memoirs that he had never talked to anyone knowledgeable in Indo-Chinese affairs who did not agree that, had elections been held in 1956, "possibly 80 per cent of the population would have voted for the Communist Ho Chi Minh as their leader".

Another comment is that 5% of South Vietnamese were Vietcong supporters in the 1960s. The North Vietnam army was a separate category, maybe 2% of Sth Vnam population.

Quote:
🇺🇸🇮🇷 Axios reports that the Pentagon is reportedly preparing a plan for a "final strike" against Iran

The US is deploying its forces to the region, but a final decision has not yet been made. The publication published several options:

▪️Seizing or blocking the Hark Island (Iran's main oil export hub);

▪️Invading/establishing control over Larak Island (the key to controlling the Strait of Hormuz);

▪️Seizing Abu Musa and nearby islands (a strategic entrance to the strait);

▪️Blocking or seizing Iranian oil tankers in the region;

▪️Large-scale airstrikes on nuclear and energy facilities;

▪️Ground operations inside Iran to ensure control over nuclear materials.

The jungle was a silent witness with tunnels and agent orange contamination which is still toxic. It records the defeat of US assumptions. Some Yanks have learned from history but not Trump. Iran has more global influence than North Vietnam but still he doesn't get it.

You brought in 'jungle', not me. My point is the data about Vietnam war and learning from it.
