I predict that Trump will invade Kharg island in order
to deprive Iran of 90% of their economy.

It would take 50,000 marines to do the job.
They would take heavy losses.

Watch: Why Kharg Island is a lifeline for Iran
Kharg Island is a small rocky outcrop just 15 miles (24km) off the coast of Iran - but despite its size, it is one of the most critical pieces of Iran's energy infrastructure.

US President Donald Trump recently posted on Truth Social that the US military had conducted what he called one of the most powerful bombing raids in the history of the Middle East, obliterating every military target on the island.

Security analyst Mikey Kay breaks down why Kharg Island is a lifeline for Iran, and why it is so strategically important for the US.

My opinion.

The USA doesn't want to destroy the Kharg island facilities -
they just want to control them.
If they did destroy them Iran would destroy all their neighbors facilities
in the Persian gulf – Saudi Arabia etc.

If he takes Kharg island -

Trump can say -
unless you allow all ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz
we won't let you sell any oil.

He can leave Kharg island undamaged so that it can start
loading oil as soon as Iran agrees.
It's the art of the deal.

He could do same by mirroring Iran in blocking Hormuz but without risking lives of marines.

He doesn't want to stop Iranian tankers -
their oil adds to the market to stop
oil prices rising.

They just re- flag them - sail to Singapore and sell it.

Tankers re-flagged at sea are seized.

As I predicted – Trump is thinking about sending troops to Kharg island.

https://www.ndtv.com/world-news/iran-war-news-trump-may-send-troops-to-capture-k...

Trump May Send Troops To Capture "Crown Jewel Of Iran"US officials told Axios that Trump is inclined towards the idea of seizing Kharg because it would constitute "an economic knockout of the regime", essentially defunding Tehran.

We'll see soon enough.

...
USS Tripoli pass Singapore on Monday. So now probably near Sri Lanka and in area of operation on weekend.

At the moment more interesting is what happened to AC G. Ford and how it may affect any plans.

Sailors on the USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier, (CVN-78), battled flames for over 30 hours last week, after a fire that started in the ship’s main laundry area, spread through ventilation to several other areas of the ship, including multiple berthing.

More than 600 sailors and aircraft crew lost their beds in the fire and have since been bunking down on floors and tables throughout the ship, the New York Times reported.

So what was the cause?

1 Shahed attack? Unlikely as there was no confirmation from Iranian regime propaganda.

2 Sabotage? Can be.

3 Maintenance negligence? Highly likely, IMHO. Fluff accumulation in air-con duct not properly cleaned.

In any case 30hrs is long enough to do damage to structural steel.

Thankfully there are no fatalities, only couple sailors hurt.

The US aircraft carrier Gerald R. Ford, deployed in operations against Iran, is expected to temporarily pull into port after a fire on board, US officials say on the 18th day of the war with Tehran.

The carrier, America’s newest and the world’s largest, is currently located in the Red Sea. It is expected to temporarily go to Souda Bay on the Greek island of Crete, the two officials say.

Iran's Fars News Agency issued a statement confirming the death of Ali Larijani. The statement also stated that his son Morteza, Alireza Bayat, deputy for security affairs at the Secretariat of the Supreme National Security Council, and a group of his bodyguards were also killed.
