It's because the TV cameras have trouble getting skin tones right -
it makes people look pale and sick without it.

Look at yourself in a mirror with Fluro lights around -
you'll look awful.

Trump uses - The Brand Bronx Colors, a Swiss brand foundation in orange bronze. It has nothing to do with TV.

I spent 19 years in various broacast facilities routinely talking to people wearing this makeup and even now I occasionally meet with a makeup artist I once worked with for coffee. The difference is that they know how to use an orange tone subtly to avoid the Trump king of the umpa loompas effect.
