In 1977 2 space probes named Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 were said to have been launched into outer space, taking picture images of planets conveniently lined up as Voyager probes past through outer space.
https://search-pdsppi.igpp.ucla.edu/mission/Voyager_2 Considering the sun’s gravity would be enough to prevent probes from reaching Mars even when considering probes got a boost from earths around 67,000 mile per hour orbit around the sun boost speed before probes began falling back towards the sun.
Considering how probes came so close to planets most planets are far bigger than earth, therefore having a greater gravity pull influence on objects within close locations, that probes had to arrive at precise locations at the precise moment planets were believed to be parsing locations, speed calculations made decades before planets travelling at great speeds through space. Planets gravity extending out into outer space influencing probes to head directly into the centre of planets probes crashing on surfaces of planets.
Artemis II had a said boost speed of 24,000 miles per hour by doing a less than 6 minute burn, achieving enough speed to get around the moon. For spacecraft to free themselves from earth’s gravity a much faster speed than 24,000 miles per hour would be required. Assuming the moon’s gravity influences earths tides, earth’s 6 times the size on the moon said to have 6 times more gravity than the moon, spacecraft would need to exceed 30,000 miles per hour maybe even 40,000 miles per hour to prevent spacecraft heading out into outer space from falling back to earth.
Why not have second and third boosts could be an option?, yet I try to express rocket engine exhausts doesn’t work similar to when rocket engine exhausts are in an atmosphere like earth’s atmosphere.
Exampling propeller aircraft use air (atmosphere) forced to the rear of aircraft pushing against air (atmosphere) to move aircraft forwards. Jet engine aircraft using compressed air burning fuel forces hot expanded gases out the rear end of the jet engines pushing against earth’s atmosphere moves jet engine aircraft forwards. Rocket engines are all about exhausts pushing against an atmosphere. When atmosphere is not available, the mere weight of forced out of an exhaust cone has far less influences on moving rocket engine craft in any desired directions.
All those media stories about: Mars buggies; landing a space probe on an asteroid the asteroid has enough gravity to allow a probe to land on it to take asteroid rock samples, than to blast off returning to earth. How much impossible fantasy can people want to feel good about believing?
