Trump announces devastating new global tariff as he hits out at ‘deeply disappointing’ Supreme Court ruling

President Donald Trump has this morning imposed a devastating 10 per cent tariff on all imports into the United States after the US Supreme Court struck down his signature economic policy.

The conservative-majority top court ruled six-three that a 1977 law known as the International Emergency Economic Powers Act(IEEPA) Mr Trump has relied on “does not authorize the president to impose tariffs.”

Mr Trump said he would use a separate authority to impose a uniform tariff of 10 percent -- after he spent the past year imposing various rates spontaneously to cajole and punish other countrie.

The ruling did not impact sector-specific duties Mr Trump separately imposed on imports of steel, aluminum and various other goods. Several government probes which could lead to more sectoral tariffs remain in the works.

Who pays the tariff, Frank?

trump is worse than stupid

In all honesty, I have never seen a stupider adult in all my life.

Despite his advisors telling him every day that tariffs are paid by the US importers, he still believes that they're paid by the foreign exporters.

How does someone that stupid become POTUS?

You wouldn't want the American Companies to be able to compete on a level playing field now would you? After all, Jimmy Carter said he was moving America from an industrial economy to a service one and it seems to have happened.

'Two tiny, remote Antarctic outposts populated by penguins and seals are among the obscure places targeted by the Trump administration's new tariffs.

Heard and McDonald Islands - a territory which sits 4,000km (2,485 miles) south-west of Australia - are only accessible via a seven-day boat trip from Perth, and haven't been visited by humans in almost a decade.

Australian trade minister Don Farrell told the ABC that the tariffs were "clearly a mistake".

"Poor old penguins, I don't know what they did to Trump, but, look, I think it's an indication, to be honest with you, that this was a rushed process.'

Penguin prices are now well above US disposable income.

Not like it was a close call or contriversial or in question.

Tarriffs are the responsibility of congress an area where The president has no responsibility.

Shooting Minnesota people is not a very nice thing for a president.
But he owns ICE. His face owns the department of Justice. He owns judges, Gaza, Venezuela, Epstein files and Pam Bondi.

Trump understands the system better then the legal intellectuals.
It's the benefit he had from years of grinding it out on the tough streets of Manhattan whilst the lawyers sipped thier lattes.

What are the supreme Court going to do?
Call in an airstrike on Mar El lago? Grin
Call up the military?.

The big fella can do what he likes.
He will be dead soon, so let him enjoy the encore to a very interesting life, something the leftie intellectual never experienced.
Now, back to your crusty keyboards lefties and recognize your inferior status

Oh? How?

Now, nobody has to pay tariffs. The lower courts take over from here.

If Customs demand cash at the border, they can be told to go get fucked.

And there, just like that, goes your DL's entire economic agenda - poof!

Into the dark of night.

A mere delaying tactic, as every schoolboy knows. Congress will need to legislate any new taxes from here on in.

This was your DL's last executive order.

Enjoy!

"The actual numbers that we would have to pay back if, for any reason, the Supreme Court were to rule against the United States of America on Tariffs, would be Hundreds of Billions of Dollars," said Trump in his post. Adding, "We are talking about Trillions of Dollars! It would be a complete mess, and almost impossible for our Country to pay."

A trillion is hundreds of billions at 1,000%. It's great big enormous. Xi and Canada can pay it. The tariffs will be great again. An impossible mess and there will be $2000 for each MAGA or not.

Good to know, Deidre.

President Trump announced Saturday he is imposing a new 15 per cent global tariff on all imports entering the US, effective immediately. The new tariff will replace the 10 per cent global tariff that Trump announced Friday shortly after the Supreme Court ruled that much of his existing tariff regime was illegal.

To impose the new tariff, he is turning to a legal tool called Section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974. Broadly speaking, the provision, which has never before been used for tariffs, allows a president to impose tariffs of up to 15 per cent for as long as 150 days to address problems caused by persistent trade deficits.

Trade experts say the administration might succeed in raising revenue with Section 122 for a short while because of the time limit. For the moment, the law buys Trump’s team time to strategize on more individualised tariffs using other legal means. In a speech Friday, Trump vowed to reinstate levies at “potentially higher” levels.

We can imagine the problems for US industry in wildly swinging tariff levels. Plans for US expanded-production plant are also as floppy as Trump's whims which expire in under 3 years. Trump is a trade deficit.

Inflation in the USA is lower then in Australia.
Maybe donny should send albo an email with some advice.

Now that donny is not able to carry out his plan, if things turn to crap. He can blame the courts and unpatriotic leftie intellectuals.
Hence he wins either way.

I think it's a smart move by the big boy 👦

'The labor market is also cooling. Annual job growth in 2025 was revised down to 181,000, one of the slowest years in a decade.'

Go Donny go.
