Often.  How many weeks?
Rarely 100 weeks.
200

So 200 weeks? That's less than four years. Keep digging. Wink

It's sufficient for the point about exemption.
ISIS men are charged and it's announced.
https://www.afp.gov.au/news-centre/media-release/australian-man-who-allegedly-re...

The brides are a different category from being ISIS so the announcements by govt are different.

Now all the journalists in the world are licking your arses… but not me, my dears. You have the faces of spoilt brats, and I hate you, like I hate your fathers .... When yesterday at Valle Giulia you beat up the police, I sympathized with the police because they are the sons of the poor.

Pasolini, 1968
Still applies to all the campus occupying brats and marchers for Hamas, Isis,Ayatollah et al.

The ISIS brides returning to Australia have been identified ahead of their arrival in Sydney and Melbourne after years embedded in Islamic State and Syria.

The ISIS brides returning to Australia have been identified ahead of their arrival in Sydney and Melbourne after years with Islamic State in Syria.

Thanks to our useless, weak government (which seems to be a common thing with nearly all Western countries these days) I'm sure that after the money hungry lawyers get involved and all the court cases are over these ISIS brides and their offspring will have 'disappeared' into the population (with new identities, of course).

Probably into public/social housing that ordinary Australians wait years and even decades to get. And they will also be getting money from Centrelink, no doubt.

And then it will all be forgotten about - until the next Bondi style terror attack takes place (and I don't think we will be waiting too long for that to happen, I'm sad to say).

Oh Dear, Poor Barnaby - taken down by Tanya Pliberseck

"Tanya Plibersek put it very simply. She said there's no legal way to stop those lSlS brides from coming back to Australia. The government follows the law and takes advice from security agencies. That's what sensible, responsible leadership looks like.

Along comes Barnaby Joyce, all puffed up, saying they make the laws, they can change them, they just take a vote. Right, Barnaby. Let me refresh your memory.
When the Coalition was in power, your government brought back 40 people. Forty. Including lSlS fĺghters.
So all this outrage now? It's bs. Pure political theatre

So where were you then, Barnaby?
Where was Pauline Hanson when her beloved Coalition mates were fIying back actual T£RR0RlSTS?
Where was Michaelia Cash? Where was Angus Taylor? Not a peep. Silence. Because it was their team doing the exact same thing. But now it's Labor, and suddenly it's a national dłsgrace.

You can't have it both ways. Either you believe in following the law and security advice, or you don't. And if you don't, you'd better explain why your own government did exactly the same thing. Go on. We're waiting.

PH is the worst 0ffender. She's made a career out of DlVlDlNG people and scaring the vulnerable. She has never produced a single serious policy on anything. Not one. Michaelia Cash just shouts bs and hopes nobody checks the facts. Angus Taylor couldn't manage his way out of a paper bag. And Barnaby Joyce? All bIuster, no backb0ne. Always has been.

So to Barnaby, Pauline, Michaelia, Angus, and every other Coalition mouthpiece whinging from the sidelines your hyp0crisy is staggering. You repatriated fłghters. You changed no laws. You followed the same rules you're now complaining about. And you expect us to take you seriously? Please. Have a seat.

Better yet, just stop pretending you have any credibility left on national security. Because you don't. And everyone can see right through it. Clear as day. “

Spine tingling Stuff eh?

9 children and 4 adults all to be housed, fed, security, rehabilitation and free medical. Why do people that went to kill people in another country get to live off our taxes. We now give these people a free ride for the rest of their lives as punishment for violence and murder.

Good sensible leadership would be to stop them from ever coming to Australia. Good sensible leadership is to change laws to prevent this type of stupidity.

There's more than that - over 40 and still more over there.

Quote:
* May 2026 (Latest Group): A group of four women and nine children landed in Sydney and Melbourne, representing the latest cohort from the Al Roj camp, as reported by 9News and the ABC.

*October 2025: A group of six women and children returned after making their own way from Syria to Lebanon without direct Commonwealth assistance, according to the ABC.

*October 2022: A major, government-facilitated operation brought back four women and 13 children to New South Wales.

* 2019: An initial group of eight children (orphans) was repatriated in the first organized move by the Australian government.

She like all Labor politicians are consummate liars.

There are ways of delaying the process indefinitely.

Quote:
Legal measures to prevent the return of ISIS brides to Australia include issuing Temporary Exclusion Orders (TEOs), which allow the Minister for Home Affairs to delay a citizen's return for up to two years to manage security risks.

Other mechanisms involve strengthening citizenship stripping powers for dual nationals and imposing stringent control orders upon arrival.

Temporary Exclusion Orders (TEOs): Under the Counter-Terrorism (Temporary Exclusion Orders) Act 2019, the government can prohibit a person from entering Australia for up to two years. A person with a TEO must apply for a "return permit," which the government can delay to manage the risk.

Citizenship Revocation: The government could use the Australian Citizenship Act to move to revoke citizenship for dual nationals who have engaged in terror-related conduct, such as fighting for or supporting ISIS.

Which is what these women have done.

The children were born in Syria - that makes them Syrian citizens.

And if they are considered dual citizens because of their mothers then the Govt can use the methods above for them.

Bottom line the whole lot of these people are ongoing security risks to the Australian community.

Nice to see an acknowledgement from you Frank.  we will convert you to being impartial soon…Keep up the good work. It may surprise you that the topic is about Burke - a Labor Minister.    You dulcet reply therefore should have been:

I agree with just about all you are saying but in the end, they would end up back here.  The sheer weight of world and legal opinion to let them back in would overwhelm any Government.  so like it or not, they would eventually get back in.  Get another limp wrist like Morrison in and they whole family stretching back to great grand parents would get in.  The good ol libs - with Barnaby right up there at the near top, let a worse bunch in than ISIS Brides.    So Plibiseck - as much as I dislike her - was right to call him out.  He is a nuff-nuff pleb who is finally in the right party
