Why would Labor go down a completely different route with energy policy when cintracts are locked in until 2031 because of dopes like howard ... i mran fancy japan paying less for our gas than we do  , tRiCKLe dOwNZIeS Shocked

Dickhead it was a Labor govt that signed off on the export price of LNG out of QLD ... at around 3 to 4 cents a kilojoule.

Never mind the Chinese & Japanese on selling that gas for 4  or 5 times that price.

June 2006: John Howard and then Chinese premier Wen Jiabao press a launch button to mark the beginning of deliveries of liquid natural gas to China's Guangdong province.

It was, he said, growing more expansive and breathless by the minute, "a gold medal performance".

Norway is using its natural resources.  Labor /Greens stop Australia from using ours.

Debt - the government spends more than it should. Servicing government debt costs schools, hospitals, infrastruvture.

Where was that gas coming from?

The LNG processing & export plant on Curtis Island in the Port of Gladstone only commenced operations in late 2014 to early 2015 & sells predominantly into China, Korea, Japan & SE Asia.

Bligh Qld Labor Govt allowed further expansion of Unconventional Horizontal Hydraulic Coal Seam Gas Fracking fields on the Darling & Western Downs in 2010.

3 to 4 cents a kilojoule - $13.60 a gigajoule is chicken feed.

Did Howard negotiate that Price?

No he didn't he was long gone.

Norway is using its natural resources.

And taxing them for Norwegians'  benefit.

WA Labor demanded and got a gas reservation policy.

The Feds dropped the ball, now the eastern states can't afford to buy a portion of their own gas reserves.

And how do you fund schools, hospitals and infrastructure?

Hint: by borrowing..since pollies don't like raising taxes, because the electorate  doesn't like paying higher taxes...

YOUR lack of understanding re how money is created - and how currency-issuing governments COULD create it without borrowing it, via public sector management of aggregate supply and aggregate demand, to avoid inflation.
