My first encounter with tai chi was about 30 years ago when my friend and I were walking on the beach down at Phillip Island, our kids were running off and playing in the water, when my friend showed me her graceful moves, right there on the sand near the beach. It was beautiful to watch. That’s when I fell in love with tai chi:
I’ve since had attempts at trying to stick with it. And the other day I found my old vhs and dvd tai chi tapes. My daughter keeps nagging me to stick with it.

I found it helps with balance and uses your core for strength.
Sometimes I follow the dvd and sometimes I make up my own  Grin

I’ve decided this year to join a group, glad you reminded me as time is slipping by again and I keep putting it off.

If you put the federal government in charge of the Sahara Desert, in 5 years there'd be a shortage of sand.

Very different seated tai chi, that’s actually quite good!
And how an annoying a chatterbox while trying to be at peace whilst doing tai chi!

It's what early Gunja users did in China when they thought the were going somewhere.

Take Buddha. He just bummed out under a tree after walking away from family, friends and a North Shore Mansion. Illumination was his way of describing free Dole payments.

Don't do it formally but I do a lot of stretching and yoga poses
Awesome to prevent back  hip knee pains.

Here's an interesting fact sprint.

Cyclists and marathon runners live on average 2 years extra.

Pole vaulters and gymnasts live on average 8 yrs extra.

You want to do complex movements

Another interesting fact. Mouse studies show stretching mice tendons and having them do summersaults reduce cancer and dementia by 50 %

Certainly would stir up the juices and the sedentary lifestyle does not do so

Simple answer.

Yes!
When Diving, the viscous element of water 💦 was better than Tai Chi in my movements.
At 100m down on twinnie 16Ls the extra water volume pressure would add extra movement challenge. I have no doubt that my years of diving made me a lot stronger in an overall body experience.

Now diving often with 33-36% Nitrox really improved my physiology under such an environment - pumping in the good stuff into every muscle, tissue and cellular activity.
Much better than Tai Chi

All good if they do it in a moderate way.
But those sporting people who push themselves for being first and for money, over-achiever and stress their bodies excessively with damage. They tend to look 10 years older than what they really are when they retire.
Look at Zali Steggle. She looks physically worn out like a retiree.

Here's an even more interesting statistic: 0% of dead people exercise.

I always thought diving was poor exercise. The extra pressure down deep does not make anything harder. Water is effectively incompressible. The water offers a bit of resistance, but it also makes you weightless. So you have to work pretty hard to put in the same effort it would take to overcome gravity out of the water. But when you are diving you are trying not to get the heart rate up. Swimming is a bit different. You can push yourself hard and get a good workout without slamming your joints.

Eating delicacies like Greenland shark & Galapagos Tortoise makes one live to 400 years of age in Wuhan city.

When exercising in water resistance is omnidirectional and you can increase it by wearing specific dress. Synchronizing breathing, movement and mind is different too.
