Well he needs to say it, and how to do it, given value-adding while competing with China isn't profitable in the private sector.

eg apparently a (US-owned) lithium refining company in WA closed  today (with the loss of 400 jobs) because it can't compete on world markets.

yes - so sad,
and when China has cornered the market - put everyone else out of business -
they'll put the prices up to get their money back.
It should be a criminal offence.

Mr Taylor will unveil an immigration policy within weeks and
said it would be a key priority for the party,

The Australian way of life is characterized by a relaxed, "no worries" attitude, a strong emphasis on outdoor, beach-oriented living, and a, diverse, multicultural society. It is supported by a high standard of living, excellent, healthcare, and a,, "fair go" culture that prizes equality and mateship.

Sensible energy policy
A much better immigration policy - much smaller numbers, much more selective in clear preference for Australian values
Much greater emphasis on unity and a lot less on diversity
Encouraging national pride over self-fagellation and guilt tripping

Hopefully Littleproud/Taylor gang up on the Anus and belt the crap out of Leftism out of Australia like what Trump has done with America.

Send Leftism to Oceania, because it serves Asia, Europe & Africa.
Not N.Amwrica.
Not S.America
Not Sahul Australia

Your error: China happened to out-compete everyone else because of its one-party system, and willingness to subsidize essential industry.

Hence Trump's withdrawal from the WTO "free-trade rules" system, in an attempt to rebuild US industry, by whacking tariffs on China (...and many other countries, rich and poor).

So Oz wil have to subsidize its own industry, to advance industrial capacity at home.

Now that was a perfect deck chair shift... you try hard ...

Anyway - I forgot to add they need to push for reliable power etc as well.

You see - it does't matter what they did in the past - in your eyes - what matters is what they are going to do for the future.

Smart people wait for that ..... instead of just being negative all the time...

They need to earn trust before they're entitled to it.
But that remains a very big if.

Not really. They just have to wait for Labor to lose it. Labor is not exactly doing well in the polls either. And they keep doing monumentally stupid things. Like the referendum.

Labor should have lost the last election the only reason they won was that the Liberals clearly offered nothing. They have only gone backwards since. We will see how this next in line nong goes but doesn't look promising for them. They have deep structural issues and deeper talent deficiencies. They have nothing to offer. Their problem isn't that they cannot offer a leader but thet they connot offer anything lined up behind a leader. They have a solid depth of nothing worth the effort.

Labor will keep on winning until we get an opposition that does not insist on having a bet each way on climate change. That cut the heart(land) out of the Liberal party and brought the far right faction into dominance, making a bad problem even worse.

Gimme a break - it's predatory pricing - it's illegal.   Roll Eyes

Your error: it's Neoclassical comparative advantage in action - ie, Ricardo's delusional doctrine informing the WTO "freetrade rules",  exposed recently by prof,.  Steve Keen, linked in post #1412.

You obviously haven't read it.... it's easier to remain ignorant, I suppose.

PS: Speaking of "illegal", the SCOTUS is still to rule on the legality of Trump's tariffs....

The CCP deliberately keep wages low. That keeps the peasants poor and desperate for more work, while making the CCP and the industrialists filthy rich. The median Chinese salary is still less than half of our unemployment benefits. TGD often attempts to disagree with me on this, but he still does not understand the statistics. Or he has not been instructed to.
