"Palestine Action Group to legally challenge extra police powers ahead of protests against Israeli president's Sydney visit

The Palestine Action Group says it will challenge the extra powers given to police ahead of protests against the Israeli presidential visit.

The additional powers were granted after parts of Sydney were declared a "major event area".

Discussions are ongoing between police and protest organisers over changing the location and route of the demonstration.

The Palestine Action Group (PAG) will challenge the New South Wales government's decision to grant police special powers, ahead of a protest against the visit of Israeli president Isaac Herzog.

The group said it is urgently filing proceedings in the NSW Supreme Court on Sunday after the government declared large parts of Sydney a "major event area".

Under the Major Events Act, police can move people on, limit and search those who wish to enter a major event area, and close specific locations.

Those who fail to comply with police directions could face fines of up to $5,500."

What say you my fellow Australians and any australians tuned in?

Fines should be 10 times stiffer.

Fines should be 10 times stiffer.

Fines should be a percentage of income, no income then jail time.

It's not cheap to take the government to court which Palestine action group has done several times.

I wonder if Nasser Mashni is being funded by foreign countries like Qatar or Iran.

Where does someone like Josh Lees get funding to organise protests that have been ongoing for several years?

Nasser Mashni sells those badges with Palestine and Aboriginal flag that idiots like Mehreen Fatima and Chlamidiya Thorpe wear i don't think he has sold enough of them to fund legal action.

Nasser was convicted for kidnapping and bashing a 15 year old kid his mate from Gaza Mohammed Sharab who helps organise these protests in on bail for bashing and kidnapping.

Labor and Greens politicians are happy to have their photo taken with these criminals.

This is starting to sound a lot like the ICE saga in the US. Will Greg help whip the idiots into hysterics? Will anyone get shot trying to do something stupid? Will they complain bitterly when they are not allowed to kill the visiting Jew?

Probably, going by ICE record, with premiers seeming to imitate Trump's attitudes.

Vietnam protests were just Oz protests.

In short:

Israeli President Isaac Herzog has arrived in Sydney for a four-day visit following the Bondi Beach terror attack.

Mr Herzog said in a statement he will join the community in grieving the lives lost and will meet with senior politicians.

What's next?
Protesters are due to gather in Sydney's CBD this evening, following a Supreme Court challenge against the government's decision to declare the visit a "major event", granting police special powers.

‘We shall overcome this evil’: Herzog lays wreath at site of Bondi Hanukkah attack

SYDNEY, Australia — President Isaac Herzog lays a wreath at the site of a mass shooting that killed 15 people celebrating a Jewish festival on Sydney’s Bondi Beach.

The head of state pays respect in the rain outside Bondi Pavilion to victims of the December 14 terror attack as he embarked on a tightly secured, four-day visit to console the Jewish Australian community.

Herzog says people of all faiths will “overcome this evil” as he mourns the victims of the shooting.

“The bonds between good people of all faiths and all nations will continue to hold strong in the face of terror, violence, and hatred,” he says.

Times of Israel staff contributed to this report.
