Bobby these are USA rights provided by their constitution - we do not have that. The only right we tend to have in this regard is the right to be silent - to a point.

This always seems to be strange to me. It is saying that it is manditory that what you say will be used against you. It isn't given as optional. So by this it would mean that if you tell the police that you had toast for breakfast that is is manditory that they use this as evidence against you.

Unlawful attacks may not put life in danger but you are assuming that the person attacked should, before defending themselves, ascertain the intentions of the attacker, a mistake could mean death; therefore the person unlawfully attacked has every right to assume that the attacker intends grievous bodily harm and is justified in responding appropriately.

You must have difficulty walking along a footpath with people who look sideways at you. They all need to be neutralised and the street pacified for pedestrian operations.

How does one know what is in the mind of the attacker?

The fact of an unlawful attack is an indication that harm is intended.
Do you really think that the person unlawfully attacked should have to analyse the attacker’s intentions in minute detail?

‘’I say, old chap, steady on a moment, do you intend me real harm or can I rightfully assume that you are not deadly serious ?’’

Spitting on someone.
Throwing an object at someone.
Grabbing someone's arm.
Threatening to punch someone'.

Eoin in the under 95s cricket team sees a fieldsman toss a ball in the manner of a hand grenade while spitting. Ducking to the left, special agent Eoin (I am Fada, Eoin Fada) sights his 1914 Mauser and drills a circle on the target, 10mm across.
Quiet applause from the deckchairs, band plays 'British Grenadiers'.
