So ZERO is like Dark Matter? We know it's there, we just can't see it.

Just as a point of interest, what was the date of the first day of the present Century?

I'll bite. 1/1/2001.  The calendar does not do 0 so to speak. A century is from year 1 to 100 inclusive. There is no 0 between 1bc and 1ad, counting starts from 1.

That appears to be right, and why it is contentious is that this century is the first century of the Third Millennium, but the start of the millennium was celebrated on the 1/1/2000.

So there is an error somewhere.

The Romans whose calendar is in use now did not have a dedicated numerical symbol for zero in their additive, non-positional system (e.g., I, V, X). Instead of a zero digit, they used the Latin word nulla (meaning "none") or sometimes a blank space to represent the absence of a quantity.

All the Romans living at 0 AD became dark matter, under Caesar Millenium. Some went to Britain to beat the 1st January bug and became timeless. Arabs with a zero increased in size overnight.

We use the Gregorian calendar which superseded the Julian and is more accurate..

Yes the Julian calendar began on Jan 1st, 45 BC.  It got a bit fuzzy at year 45 and was a mess by 46 which wasn't BC at all.
