Melania review: A lazy, bafflingly incurious documentary that insults the person it is trying to celebrate

Nobody really expected the Melania Trump documentary to be much more than a puff piece. Somehow, though, it is something even worse.

“Rich with meaning” and “so full of purpose” are the words Melania Trump uses, at the climax of her documentary, to sum up the day of her husband’s second inauguration. There’s an implication that they also apply to her life.

Perfect descriptors for everything Melania, named for its star and producer, lacks. This preening void of a film offers nothing interesting, let alone meaningful, and has no apparent purpose beyond making people appreciate the US First Lady a little more in all her faux, wannabe-royal glory. The ungrateful peasants.

Even in that, its most basic and cynical aim, it faceplants.
