Data collected from 35 American cities showed a 21% decrease in the homicide rate from 2024 to 2025, translating to about 922 fewer homicides last year, according to a new report from the independent Council on Criminal Justice.

The report, released on Thursday, tracked 13 crimes and recorded drops last year in 11 of those categories including carjackings, shoplifting, aggravated assaults and others. Drug crimes saw a small increase over last year and sexual assaults stayed even between 2024 and 2025, the study found.

Experts said cities and states beyond those surveyed showed similar declines in homicides and other crimes. But they said it’s too early to tell what is prompting the change even as elected officials at all levels — both Democrats and Republicans — have been claiming credit.

Adam Gelb, president and CEO of the council — a nonpartisan think tank for criminal justice policy and research — said that after historic increases in violence during the COVID-19 pandemic, this year brought historic decreases. The study found some cities recorded decades-low numbers, with the overall homicide rate dropping to its lowest in decades. “It’s a dramatic drop to an absolutely astonishing level. As we celebrate it we also need to unpack and try to understand it,” Gelb said. “There’s never one reason crime goes up or down.”

And all those US troops sent to cities to stand around doing nothing because, as every schoolboy knows, it's illegal for federal troops to arrest or detain people on US soil and their deployment was illegal to begin with, as the Supreme Court just ruled.

So yes, apart from the fact that your DL has done nothing to reduce the murder rate and has in fact done everything he can to raise the risk by pardoning and releasing violent offenders, I will say this.

The murder rate, along with all violent crime, has been on a steeply downward trajectory since your DL was first in office during covid, the George Floyd riots and the resulting far-right violence, in 2020.

Why?

Mass surveillance, an aging population and a move to online interaction is just part of the story.

The Great Crime Drop has been happening for years. Theories range from various social and economic factors to the removal of lead from petrol. The developed, and even much of the developing world has reached a tipping point in its tolerance of violence. Schools, neighbourhoods and communities don't cop it, and this has led to a self-fulfilling cycle where more people come out to see potential crime, report it and often prevent it.

I dare say gender plays a role too - more women in public space - but do you know?

All this has happened in spite of your DL. If he had his way, murder and violent crime would rise.

No, far from it. Indeed, I suggest he's committed violent crime as well. One of the biggest unsolved mysteries of the Epstein case is his death. This was one of the reasons for the initial calls to release the Epstein files - the elite globalist cabal was still out there - those on the Epstein Client List, those with the money, power and means to have Epstein taken out in such a way as to leave no trace.

It may be hard to remember in the current US media climate of political shock and awe, but this whodunnit was at the heart of the original calls to release the files.

Who killed Epstein? Who had such means at their disposal? Who had the biggest motive? And who is now working their hardest to keep the files buried, blurred, redacted, politically weaponised, and ultimately, through the use of global invasions and threats, distracted from?
