Albo would put -
John Curtin Australia's 14th Prime Minister from
October 1941 to July 1945 - Labor Party,
in jail for 15 years for having a White Australia policy.
You can't make this sh!t up.

Another Labor leader who would go to jail.

Labor aren't the same party they once were.

His biggest problem is he thinks he and his cohorts are normal!!

Latham was right - we have a shipload of non-English speaking ghettoes - and under the new affirmative action - DEI* - they get affirmative action into jobs where their 'cultural norms' can get into full swing.... including in immigration..... scary thought, huh?

Greens won't support Labor's sweeping hate law reform in current form

By political reporter Maani Truu
Topic:Federal Government

1h ago

In short:

The Greens will not support the government's sweeping changes to hate and gun laws without significant amendments, including the broadening of protections to all minority groups.

Opposition Leader Sussan Ley labelled the government's laws "unsalvageable" on Thursday, in a signal that the Liberal Party is preparing to vote against the bill.

What's next?
Parliament will return early next week to debate the wide-ranging legislation.

Australia's hate speech, gun law reforms face free speech concerns

By Kirsty Needham

Summary

Liberal, National and Greens parties criticise bill that combines hate speech, gun control measures
Prime Minister Albanese calls for unity, more negotiation
Jewish council wants law passed despite shortcomings

SYDNEY, Jan 15 (Reuters) -

Hate speech and gun control laws proposed by the Australian government in the aftermath of the Bondi Beach mass shooting were criticised by conservative opposition and Greens parties on Thursday, putting in question whether they can pass.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has recalled Parliament from its summer break to sit next Monday and Tuesday with the hope that a combined bill that authorises a gun buyback and lowers the bar for hate speech prosecutions would be voted on.

Some of the sillier examples of 'hate speech' presented  by those who are against the proposed Bill:

It will be illegal to say "Oz is the best country in the world".....obviously not 'hate speech', just mindless jingoism. [Pollies say it as well, to hide their failure to ensure affordable housing for all).

"Non-Christians will go to Hell"...well, at least Trumpy has admitted he's not likely to go to Heaven; it's not 'hate speech'.

But the Bill is a misguided attempt to deal with Islamic terrorism  related to
'Infidel'  Israel's occupation of Palestine; banning 'hate speech' won't fix that problem.

Meanwhile The Greens are saying "the Bill should protect everyone...."

Seems  we need a Bill defining Love Speech..... Undecided

More than that -
Albo was going to try to take away all criticism of his crazy policies by
labelling people as racist etc and locking them up in Gulags for 15 years.
Example:
Anyone who doesn't like mass uncontrolled immigration
would have been locked up - that means millions of people in labor camps.

Albo is acting like a communist dictator -
his true colors have been revealed.
I think he's evil.
I hope he loses the next election and we never hear from him again.

Those laws don't mention Islamic hate speech -

the word Islamic is not in the text -

like Basil Fawlty -  don't mention the war.    Roll Eyes

The message:

you can go to prison for causing theoretical discomfort in a theoretical person.

The measure’s core novelty is what it removes: proof of harm.

It’s “immaterial,” the draft says, whether “the conduct actually results in hatred” or whether anyone “actually” feels intimidated or fears harassment.

The courts will instead consider what a hypothetical “reasonable” member of the targeted group would feel, even if no such person exists in the case.

Prosecutors, the explanatory note clarifies, “would not be required to prove” any real fear at all.

The message: you can go to prison for causing theoretical discomfort in a theoretical person.

Rowland’s bill doesn’t stop at the town square or the street corner. It explicitly defines a “public place” to include any form of electronic communication, including social media, blogs, livestreams, recordings, and content posted from private property if the public can see it.

In other words, the living room webcam and the backyard podcast are now public arenas. A joke, a meme, or an overheard rant could be weighed for its impact on an imaginary “reasonable person” who never existed.

That five-year penalty isn’t for causing harm; it’s for crossing a line no one can quite locate.
