My brother-in-law was the Chief Scientist for the Defence Forces. He was in charge during the decision. He and I have had long conversations about the decision. Basically his conclusion was that the French deal was a reasonable deal but ScoMo scotched it by lying to Macron so there was only the AUKUS deal left on the table. He decided it was a reasonable deal considering how rarely the USA was to ordinarily trade it's nuclear technology. They were never going to give their technology away, they were going to sell it and make a purchaser pay through the nose for it. Overall we are getting access to advanced submarines that leave the French one for dead, nuclear reactors of advanced form and nuclear training of extremely advanced form. Bobby wants to moan and carp about the cost, without understanding exactly what it is we are purchasing. Tsk, tsk, tsk... Roll Eyes

If other decisions are made, such as Australia not getting any subs at all, it will not be made public and just maybe the US keeps the cash. Who knows, anything is something, or could be nothing instead.

My brother-in-law was the Chief Scientist for the Defence Forces. He was in charge during the decision. He and I have had long conversations about the decision. Basically his conclusion was that the French deal was a reasonable deal but ScoMo scotched it by lying to Macron so there was only the AUKUS deal left on the table. He decided it was a reasonable deal considering how rarely the USA was to ordinarily trade it's nuclear technology. They were never going to give their technology away, they were going to sell it and make a purchaser pay through the nose for it. Overall we are getting access to advanced submarines that leave the French one for dead, nuclear reactors of advanced form and nuclear training of extremely advanced form. Bobby wants to moan and carp about the cost, without understanding exactly what it is we are purchasing. Tsk, tsk, tsk... Roll Eyes
