The conduct of ICE more broadly is abhorrent, it doesn't need to be limited to this one incident.

The constitutional right to due process is not supposed to be optional, nor something that can be suspended when it becomes politically inconvenient.

Dragging people off the street without providing identification, concealing faces, using unmarked vehicles and plain clothes, how exactly is the public meant to distinguish a lawful federal agent from an armed racist LARPing as law enforcement?

ICE agents are, frankly, fortunate that they overwhelmingly target people who appear compliant and law-abiding, rather than someone who, in a split-second assessment of personal safety, interprets a group of unidentified men attempting a street abduction as a criminal threat. Nothing about their appearance or behaviour communicates legitimate authority and I'm surprised more of them haven't gone home in a body bag.

Those agents rely on that imbalance. They rely on fear, confusion, and restraint from their targets. And it is delusional to pretend that MAGA would respond with the same indulgence and rationalisation if the roles were reversed and the victim fit a different political or cultural profile.

Should we laugh off their deaths, dismiss them, saying "they should have complied with the Constitution" and hand-wave away any concerns?

Maybe accuse those who are shocked by their deaths as having TDS?

This reality also exposes the lie that these operations are about violent criminals. They are not. They routinely target people engaging with the system in good faith, including individuals attending their immigration court hearings as required.

Then there are the American citizens who are repeatedly racially profiled, detained, denied the opportunity to prove their status, and held without access to a lawyer, their family, their medication, or even basic sanitation.

None of this even registers with MAGA, because the cruelty is the point. It is directed at people they dislike, and that alone makes it acceptable to them.

It is disgusting, and so are they.

They whinge endlessly about being compared to Nazis, yet openly support masked, unaccountable agents disappearing people off the street without identification, warrants, or any opportunity to prove their citizenship.

If you strip away the slogans and the flag-draping, what’s left is the enthusiastic endorsement of secret police tactics, justified purely by who the targets are.

The comparison isn’t being made by their critics, it’s being earned by their behaviour. And the refusal to confront that contradiction isn’t confusion, it’s bad faith.

Don't like the comparisons to Nazis?  Then stop supporting those who are acting like them!

Exactly, that's why I'm surprised that more Americans haven't blown their heads off, but it makes sense given that they're racially profiling people and immigrants tend to contribute less to the crime statistics than those who were born in the US.

They're cosplaying tough agents, but targeting those who are more likely to comply than fight back.

But things are escalating, and there are more and more reports of them abducting US citizens.  It's only a matter of time before more of these cowards don't make it home at night.
