The Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group is now in the Middle East, having been redirected from its Indo-Pacific deployment to the region in recent weeks as tensions with Iran increase, USNI News has learned.

Aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) had chopped into the U.S. 5th Fleet as of Monday, a defense official confirmed to USNI News. Abraham Lincoln brings with it the striking power of embarked Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 9 and destroyers USS Frank E. Petersen, Jr. (DDG-121), USS Spruance (DDG-111) and USS Michael Murphy (DDG-112).

The United States has launched large-scale air exercises in the Middle East.
This was announced by US Central Command.

How sad, poor old Iran.
'The Imperial State of Iran, the government of Iran during the Pahlavi dynasty, lasted from 1925 to 1979. During that time two monarchs — Reza Shah Pahlavi and his son Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi — employed secret police, torture, and executions to stifle political dissent.'

As many as 30,000 protesters may have been killed by Iranian security services earlier this month, on 8 and 9 January alone. This was an unprecedented display of brutality, even by the standards of the Islamic Republic. Even more striking still has been the muted response in the West. Anti-government protesters are fighting for freedom, democracy and against religious tyranny. Many of those bravely battling against the regime are women, desperate to overthrow harsh Islamic strictures, including forced veiling. So where is the solidarity from Western ‘feminists’ and ‘progressives’?

They are kvetching about "between 1925 and 1979".

It seemed to get under their skin.
'The 1978–1979 uprising was violent. Estimates of deaths range from 532 to 2,781 (consensus of historians) to 60,000 (claimed by the new regime).
On September 8, 1978, troops fired on protesters in Jaleh Square, with post-revolutionary accounts listing around 94 killed, though it was widely reported as a much larger massacre at the time'.
