It is. They just want donations and increased fundings.
It's all lunacy.

'Advanced Materials: Using hydrogen-rich materials (like water)'.

NASA knows its stuff. Advanced water will get the edge on Ch-InA.
And the weight will restore normal movement both on Moon and Mars. (1/6 and 1/3 gravity). You can even see through it.

Radiation?
I think that even on the Moon -
astronauts will have to find caves to live in -
or somehow dig tunnels underground and stay mostly there.

The whole thing is a bit silly really.    Embarrassed

Yes - I don't see any long term base being built on the Moon.

NASA keeps their SCAM going with blatherings of Mining the Moon & Mars.
The ultimate wankfest for $$$

More on radiation.

Google AI:

HZE nuclei (High-atomic number, high-Energy) are heavy, highly charged ions found in galactic cosmic rays, traveling at near-light speeds. Though scarce (1% of cosmic rays), these particles are a primary concern for deep space exploration due to their high linear energy transfer (LET), which penetrates spacecraft and induces severe,, irreversible DNA damage, leading to high cancer risk and potential neurological effects in astronauts.

Key Aspects of HZE Nuclei:

Composition: These are atomic nuclei stripped of electrons, including heavy elements like Carbon, Oxygen, and Iron.

Source: They originate outside the solar system, likely from supernova explosions.

Biological Impact: HZE ions are densely ionizing, leaving tracks through biological tissues that cause clustered, complex DNA damage (double-strand breaks) that is difficult for cells to repair.

Space Radiation Hazard: Because they can penetrate heavy shielding, they represent the most dangerous,, unshielded component of cosmic radiation, necessitating specialized shielding materials like hydrogen-rich plastics rather than heavy metals like aluminum.

Research: Due to their unique,, high-LET,, they are studied using terrestrial accelerators, such as the NASA Space Radiation Laboratory, to model long-term health risks like cancer and degenerative tissue effects.

One astronaut suffered radiation so bad, his face looked burnt.

The astronauts on the ISS get some protection still
from being inside the Earth's magnetic field.

Yes. But when there is a solar flare burst. He copped it in the space station.

They do have a special room on the ISS which is surrounded by a water jacket
for when the Sun goes crazy.
That helps a bit.

Yes. But it's also about warning the astronauts asap to get there within 5 minutes.

We have a long way to go before we can safely travel through even our own backyard. NASA spins it like it will happen tomorrow - more Media lies.

Yes - the Moon and Mars have no magnetic field -
the Earth is perfect for us but nowhere else we know of.
Space is such a hostile place that it will actually kill humans.
Other than living deep underground in tunnels - there is no solution.

To make underground cities -
how the hell could we transport heavy mining equipment to the Moon or Mars?

It's just a pipe dream  - from people who smoke too much pot like Marla & Elon Roll Eyes
