Yes, but Trump takes lying well past what most people think politicians will do. Trump is a pathological liar and the way he lies so brazenly and obviously is truly breathtaking. Then he repeats his lies constantly and deliberately. No other politician lies like Trump does. There is simply no honesty in him whatsoever.

I wonder if he was like that as a kid - must have been hell for his parents.

It probably began and ended with them, with a million bucks for each lie.
'Fred Trump transferred a total of over $1 billion to his children, largely through methods that tax experts described as legally dubious or improper, to avoid gift and inheritance taxes. A key part of this involved a company called All County Building Supply & Maintenance which acted as a pass-through entity for untaxed gifts.'
