I've been researching my next car casually. Found the missing info that made my decision.
The Toyota hybrid systems have a very reliable very efficient transmission. They call it an ECVT, which is badly named in some ways.
It has planetary gears and 2 motor generator units.
Service would be a 10 minute oil drain and change, no oil filter.

It has no valves, drive bands associated with normal CVTs or Auto trans
It's fair to call it the best transmission made

Toyota changed their CVT for road cars to have a proper 1st gear with rest of it being CVT.
This removed a major weak point with CVT so should last longer, not sure which year they changed it.
I would go with this gearbox version if buying second hand over previous full CVT.
CVT oil is expensive compared to Auto trans fluid.
CVT do have a oil filter you have to drop gearbox pan to access it, they don't change filter every service like they do with older non CVT autos.
Dual clutch is still the best tranny instant up and downshifts can be used as manual or auto found in more expensive versions of car.
As for Hybrids i would go Toyota they have been making them since Prius have mastered it others are still catching up.
Interesting how Yaris GR Hybrid ( Not available here) Corolla and Camry are all rated at 4.1L/100 Km or 62 MPG.
They can be driven in electric mode for going to shops which sidesteps the wear with cold starts when not much oil pressure at start causes crank and cam bearing wear.
Ferrari have a pretty good hybrid system from experience in F1.
No reverse gear in their hybrids gearbox they use electric motor for reverse
