Victoria a basket case under Labor
Dec 22nd, 2025 at 7:35pm

I may live in Victoria, but I am so grateful that I don't live in Melbourne. I go there a few times a year, but you couldn't pay me to live in such a sh!thole. Labor is just completely ruining what was once a very safe and prosperous state under Jeff Kennett. Ever since then, Victoria has just gone downhill. The Judges in this news article are living in a fairytale world, far removed from reality. Time for these Judges to perhaps face voters, like they do in the US for local and state Courts.

Or simply bring back common sense. Don't give violent offenders bail, especially repeat offenders. The governments of Andrews and Allen have been far too hesitant to be tough on crime - especially youth crime - and as a result it has gotten out of control because offenders know they'll more than likely get a slap on the wrist.

I was appalled that staff at a youth prison recently could not use any kind of force to make a couple of youths appear in Court via video link - that the offenders even had an option to refuse is beyond belief. That's just ridiculous. Who's running the prison - the guard or the kids? As far as I'm concerned, it isn't optional. They attend their Court case either in person or video link whether they want to or not. Bail should be automatically denied when offenders (especially youths) are charged with violent crimes.

No -
the British knew how to tame wild, lawless colonies:

the the birch,
the cat of 9 tails,
the stocks,
the rope.

it worked.

Bobby.

Those are no match for the machete.
The machete is on the flag of some African nation.
They love the feeling of metal slicing thru flesh.
Maybe premier Allen can get them jobs at the meatworks or train them to be highly skilled surgeons.

One thing is for sure, the current Labor government in Victoria hasn't got a clue!

Well, to what do you attribute an overall increase in their seats and small but consistent rises in their popularity?  Sure, opinion polls show dramatic falls but those quickly reverse.   What exactly is Victoria a basket case in?    Youth crime is a concern, but the penalties are there if the judges would only implement them.

What exactly would the Opposition do?  Not SAY what they would do but actually implement?     At the moment, they are going to bring Victoria perceived debt under control  - and of course the leemings go for the breadcrumbs.    Victoria borrowed a lot of money at low interest to fund all the road improvements, port improvements, bay improvements and dredging, tourism lures and a host of others because all the Victorian ratepayers combined could not do that when it needed to be done.   It made sense, and still makes sense to borrow when rates are low and get infrastructure going.

So, apart from a string of motherhood statements, how EXACTLY would the Opposition improve on what is happening now without huge increases in taxes on Victorians and levies on tourists?  Put em out there so we can see what they would do

Victoria is a State of Sport.
Not Politics.
This is self proclaimed by Victorians.

It's a Leftism State and hence why it suffers politically.
They get what they pay for.

Was that interest rate set in stone or has it gone up now?

You Victorians can always kick a football.
Maybe that will help?

From what I read, it was borrowed during COVID and the interest rate fixed for whatever the loan duration is.

Unfortunately Taswegians are going to learn soon how expensive that will be.  Also, the cost of going to the footy these days is getting to the point of being a luxury for many families.
