I've seen much of Australia. It's a burnt out, virulent, brittle majority of what is less, than more. It died a very long time ago.
As one NASA astronaut commented on a space doco. Australia is the Great Boring Land Mass as they see it when they pass overhead.

As I said before you have to be in right place at right time.
Deserts in northern Australia gave me some experiences I rank as best in my life like desert bloom and sun rise with full moon on opposite side going down, two huge disks of gold and silver with colour of sky above beats any polar light in Barents and White seas.
The NASA astronaut wouldn't see it from above and wouldn't feel that air that just start to move up from sand as sun is rising. The rarity of such events only adds up to the effect.

But of course the beauty is in the eye of beholder so not everyone would feel the same Wink

Australia's gondwanic flower blooms are a beautiful sight indeed. But overall, Australia - most of the time, is as beige as the 1970-80s NZ one day cricket team with rust thrown in.

Many months of drinking my way to the bottom when it was still pristine. I was like a Platypus who could finally see. Yes, the Kiwi and Maori kids let me know how much of a chest Aussies are. I just returned to the water. Things never changed. Along came the sandpaper.
