The president said he's discussed a White House visit for the parents of both members of the West Virginia National Guard.
"I said, 'When you're ready, because that's a tough thing, come to the White House. We're going to honor Sarah," Trump told reporters. "And likewise with Andrew, recover or not."
Local and federal law enforcement lined the streets in Washington, DC, Thursday night during a dignified transfer for Beckstrom, in a procession held to honor the remains of a fallen service member.
So what, exactly?
Why is it that a white-nationalist Christian, a Nat-C, who happened to be a private citizen with nothing to do with the Government or the armed forces, gets nationwide flags at half-mast, but a soldier who was illegally sent into danger and died as a direct result gets nothing, while the Administration simultaneously tries to pin their war crimes onto an Admiral to shield the so-called "Secratary of War" from his own directives?
It makes the whole thing look like the military isn't a national institution to be respected but a disposable instrument of convenience, where the soldiers themselves are expendable props. And that's entirely consistent with how this Administration, and MAGA more broadly, treat the public, the country, and even their own followers, they're valued only insofar as they can be used to protect Trump's image.
That includes you buddy boy. All this effort you put into defending and devoting yourself to Trump and the movement, and they literally don't care.
At least I'm here, actually defending what's true, defending reality, because that still matters. We don't advance as a society by cherry-picking what's real or massaging the optics to spare your feelings, we advance by dealing with facts, even when they're uncomfortable.
So why are you doing this? Why do you keep discarding reality in favour of whatever happens to be more palatable to you in the moment? What do you gain by clinging to something so flimsy, so transparently self-serving? All it really shows is weakness, a refusal to engage with the world as it is rather than as you wish it were.
