Why is Labor trying to sabotage our economy? -

only in the minds of idiots ... congrats, you qualify

You voted for Labor -

it's pricks like you who put us in this mess.   Angry

Who did you vote for?

An Independent - I'm in a safe Labor seat - it was a waste of time -
I only turned up because it's compulsory.
People here could be lining up at soup kitchen's and they'd still vote for bloody Labor -
they're morons.

I vote Labor because they ensure Oz doesn't descend into the trench warfare of US politics, where 40 million people are unable to afford food or health care, while billionaires vote for tax cuts.

But as for the current cost of living and housing crises in Oz: it's a global crisis of government,  caused by the dominant mainstream Thatcher-Reagan-Friedman Neoclassical  orthodoxy.

Something your 'Independent' has no idea how to fix....

Bobby voted for the libs through preferences. He just doesn't want to admit it

it's not like he didn't know beforehand that going independent in his seat would lead to preference flows

Yeah well then don't tell me how good Labor is.

Twice in my life I lost my job -
each time in a large company and
each time a mass retrenchment of many workers.

Both times Centrelink refused to pay me even one penny towards the dole.
Both times Labor was in power.
I'll never forgive them.

But I was unemployed.
I had paid massive taxes and contributed to company generated GST
that the Govt took along with about 20 other taxes including payroll tax.

I felt so ripped off.
The Govt was there bleeding money off when the going was good
but didn't want to know me when it all went belly up - like a fair weather friend.
I took it personally.
It remains unforgiven.

and? Unemployment benefits are there to help those in need with the basics, not to fund your lifestyle. If you have your own money you need to use that before you can sponge off taxpayers

Yes but probably a fair bit less than the Liberals.

Alligns with the difference in corruption most likely.

The 2nd time I had considerable savings because I had learnt from the first time
how badly I'd be treated if I was ever unemployed again.
It doesn't matter if Labor has taken $millions in taxes from the work you've done
they still treat you like a turd if you lose your job.

Thats how the system is supposed to work dumbarse. Why would any sane person insist that govt pay unemployment to people with tens or hundreds of thousands in their bank accounts? That's just moronic..... don't worry, i just answered my question Roll Eyes

Because they may have contributed $millions in taxes so
it's a way to pay a little bit back to those who are the most deserving.

Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

don't oversell yourself goober. You haven't ever paid millions for anything.
I'm not sure what you're struggling with. The dole isn't payback for any taxes you may have paid. The dole is to help those in need with basics. You need to get over this sense of entitlement

Yeah well then don't tell me how good Labor is.

I told you why I vote for Labor: they are more  likely to fund welfare-enhancing policies, eg universal healthcare, and minimum wage increases.

And I already explained why the private sector is dysfuctional; and why governments of any persuasion can't fix it, given the current Neoclassical hegemony.

Yes, that's because hapless Chalmers still believes he has to 'balance the budget',  like you and I have to balance our household budgets.

Hapless and hopeless - but still better than the 'survival of the fittest' Coalition alternative.
