A man has died after being hit by a vehicle in a horror incident at a NSW construction site.   Sad

A man has died after being hit by a vehicle at a construction site in NSW.

Emergency services were called to the site on the New England Highway at Tarro at about 11.50pm on Thursday, after reports a man had been hit by a vehicle.

Police say a worker was standing behind a parked truck when he was hit by a material transfer vehicle travelling towards the truck.

The 45-year-old man died at the scene. He is yet to be formally identified.

The male driver was take to Maitland Hospital for mandatory testing.


A crime scene has been established and police are investigating the death.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.

SafeWork NSW has been notified.

A material transfer vehicle is commonly used when resurfacing roads and is used to transfer asphalt.

Major roadworks have been ongoing at Tarro for the extension of the M1 Pacific Motorway from Black Hill to Raymond Terrace.

Seems to be more and more of this happening these days. Time for some really, really BIG fines.

Condolences to the man's family and friends.

I'm sure aqua will be along shortly to remind us again about how dangerous it is commuting to work and how we should all thank God the noble employers keep everyone so safe once they arrive at work.

Disgraceful stuff.

Yes well said Carl D. I think you are right.  This does seem to be happening too much.  However I am sure a big fine can work wonders.   Sad
