In short:
Native title for about 915,000ha of Cape York has been returned to the traditional owners.
Captain James Cook landed in the region in 1770, beginning of years violence and displacement of the traditional owners.
What's next?
It is expected that Native Title for all of entire Cape York will be settled by the end of 2026.”

Last year, Barnaby Joyce was diagnosed with a serious illness, and he was filmed lying drunk on a Canberra footpath  after rolling off a bench masturbating into a mobile phone

Like the Melbadishu demos - they forgot to mention that most of the violence was from one side and against miners and such - often Chinese etc .. good eating.. and the return fire was retaliation to attacks, as usual.

Now then - Native Title:-

"Native title rights are the traditional rights and interests of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in land and waters, as recognized under Australian law. These rights are based on traditional laws and customs and can include the ability to camp, hunt, fish, conduct ceremonies, and hold meetings. They are distinct from land ownership and can be either non-exclusive (shared rights) or exclusive (the right to control access). The Native Title Act 1993 was created following the High Court's Mabo decision to provide a legal process for these rights to be recognized. "

What this means is that they can continue to camp, hunt, fish, conduct ceremonies and hold meetings - as if anyone has been stopping them from doing so.  All those years without holding a meeting must have been hard.....

The KICKER is in 'non-exclusive' and 'exclusive' rights.  Re-read the article...... I think you'll find this is cosmetic..... i.e. non-exclusive... and is just another cause for future troubles over and over.  That's why the UDS (Usual Dopey Sheila) says the fight has just begun.... and the prosperity will be social security for most as usual... nothing much will change.

They'll 'negotiate' royalties - i.e. this is just a sneaky way of handing them cash to waste - pay the rent by stealth - enable the usual African King corruption at the top leaving those at the bottom no better off - and when Scott Morrison takes over as the CEO of the spaceport up there (see my map) - they'll screw royalties out of that as well...

The ABC really must learnt to report the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
