Even the Kirk assassination didn’t push post count over 300 posts per day.

I think that instead of hoping that post is just down to boring times we should be building post count and membership.

1. Install modern software

2. Stop issuing stupidly long bans

3. Use metadata to give links to frequently searched topics

4. Shorten the stupidly long front page—the Party boards are crap, nowhere near enough activity

5. Get rid of nonperforming MRB mods, install members as mods who have some idea of the subject matter of their MRB. Bobby, Black Orchid, Gordon are three radically underperforming MRB mods. Hopeless!

5.a. install mods where there is effectively no Mod now—Finance and economics for example.

6. With 5, increase QUALITY content.

There is a count just after the Party boards. Paste into a spreadsheet, apply a simple formula and post the count and the number of posts since the last 6.00pm count is given.

The message of the post counts is grim: a steady downward trend.

Pity there is no simple “active membership” number.

The assassination of Kirk boosted post count for a few weeks.

Trumpy’s idiocy is stimulating a lot of posts.

Neither of these cases stimulated posting even to levels of the rate same time last year.

And again, should we not seek to maximise post count and membership? Discussion boards like this and my fine forum are facing competition from Twitter, FaceBook, YouTube, TikTok and other social media. We need to run to stay in place as the Red Queen said.
