Big Corporations Are Still Ripping Us Off

ATO Figures confirm big corporations are still ripping us off   Sad

The Australian Taxation Office’s latest corporate tax transparency report shows that big corporations are still ripping Australians off when it comes to avoiding tax.

The ATO figures show that almost a third of large companies, including fossil fuel, gambling and airline corporations, paid no corporate tax at all in the 2023-24 financial year.

Greens Economic Justice Spokesperson Senator Nick McKim said the numbers are proof the system has been totally corrupted.

“Almost one in three big corporations paid nothing. That’s an economy-wide rip off,” Senator McKim said.

“Corporations that are wrecking the climate, destroying nature and sucking profits out of our communities are dodging tax which leaves working Australians to make up the difference.”

“You know the system is cooked when people going to work every day as nurses, cleaners or plumbers are paying more tax than nearly a third of big corporations.”

“Working people don’t get the option of skipping their tax bill. But big corporations keep buying their way out of it, and Labor and the Liberals keep letting them.”

“The Greens will keep fighting to make big corporations and billionaires pay their fair share so we can fund housing, health, education and the services people rely on.”

Large corporations provide most of our worthwhile goods and services

The internet
Sports
Movies
Restaurants
Travel
Holidays
Great automobiles and motorbikes and boats
Cell phones
Google maps.
Medical interventions and prosthetics.
White goods
Furniture

So much that enriches our lives.

Government provides mass immigration to overwhelm the roads and hospitals
Machete gangs to terrify
The NDIS  childcare and aged care that are always providing crap care and taking over aspects communities used to get joy from doing for themselves.
Green policies so we can have blackouts and unaffordable power.
Stupid subs.

Nearly everything great is from corporations.
Nearly everything that doesn't work and is crap is from government  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Whether they are ripping off the system depends entirely on why they pay no tax. We don't want to bankrupt 1/3 of the economy by taxing them when they make a loss.

Australia.

The land of rip off merchants, crooks and con men.

And we learned all of this from the 'masters of the trade' - the United States of America.

Well done us !

Seems to be almost exactly what you were saying. We have seen this third of companies measure come up year after year. There are hugely profitable companies who have made a paper loss in taxable terms for years and years.

Why would you think that would change under Labor?  They have their share portfolios and their property portfolios to mange - they're not going to shoot those in the foot.. not going to piss in their own overflowing rice bowls...

You people are blind.

No. It is different. This should be obvious from the quotes you left out.
