Australian recognition of Palestinian state
Sep 22nd, 2025 at 12:52pm

I fully support Palestine becoming a sovereign state of its own and for the Palestinian people to determine their own fate and to govern themselves without outside influence. But not now - not yet, at least. Not until every hostage taken by Hamas terrorists is released. Not until Hamas is disbanded and disarmed. There can be no rewards for Hamas, and that's what Albanese's misguided, symbolic recognition does. Nothing more. It is a colossal foreign policy failure by the Albanese government and brings shame to Australia as a whole.

Having said that, I disagree with the ongoing action by Israel. They can't keep going until Gaza is just rubble. I agree they have been pushed way too many times by Hamas and the attack by Hamas on Israel that killed 1200 and saw over 100 hostages taken was just wrong in no uncertain terms. But I do think Israel is going way too far now.

I agree. It's about time the Palestinians got their poo together and formed a functioning state. No point "recognising" a nation that does not exist, other than as a hole in the map. It took the Israelis a few weeks. Not sure why the Palestinians need a few generations.

The problem is Hamas refusing to give up power. Abbas has little to no power over Gaza.

Yes. The Israelis have been pretty slack. They should all be long given up by now.

But that is not the ultimate problem. The people of Gaza still support Hamas. So whoever replaced Hamas would just be another version of the same thing. No-one with an interest in building a functioning state wants to, and is capable of, ruling the Palestinian people. If such a group did exist they would have been handed the keys long ago.

Israel has no interest in confirming its own borders, nevermind those of a Palestinian state, as the original mission of Israel's establishment is not yet complete, being: the establishment of Israel across the entirety of the ancient Jewish regions.

Parts of those regions, many occupied by Israel, but not already incorporated into the Israeli state (a state which includes East Jerusalem, which, under international law, Israel illegally annexed) are claimed as Palestinian territory by Palestinians and the UN.

Are you offering us an excuse for why the Palestinians still have not established a functioning state, after several generations of a power vacuum? Do you think they are waiting on the paperwork from Israel?

Will the Palestinians, living in Israel, move to Palestine?

Shouldn’t they be free to decide?

Paperwork that would never arrive anyway.

Israel intends to complete its mission regardless of Palestinian readiness, the offer of peace treaties with all the Arab states, or international pressure... if it had already completed its state mission, it would have already confirmed its borders regardless of Palestinian unreadiness, continued non-recognition from the holdout Arab states or international pressure.

How long do you think those cunning Jews will wait until they do what you say they have been planning all along?

And do you think this has anything at all to do with the inability of the Palestinians to form a functioning state? Do you think they are in on the plan? Or do you just like talking about scheming Jews?

Jews have waited 2000 years for this opportunity... they've gone 80 years without confirming or declaring Israel's border, while bacon-slicing unincorporated territories over time, occasionally strategically withdrawing from land they don't intend to annex, while infiltrating others with settlers...

In the last 40 years, Israel has annexed East Jerusalem and the Golan Heights...

The West Bank (known to Israelis as Judea and Samaria) will be next.

That's what the topic of this thread is Meister. Can you simply not stop yourself talking about scheming Jews? Or do you think it is somehow relevant?

Unfortunately for you, you debate with the bad faith of a teenage girl.
