Worker dies after being struck by forklift in Sydney's east

A man has been killed by a forklift at a worksite in Sydney's east.

Emergency services were called to a warehouse on Military Road in Matraville just after 5.30am on Monday.

Police were told a 57-year-old was struck by a forklift and suffered serious injuries.


NSW Ambulance said six emergency crews travelled to the scene, including an ambulance helicopter and the intensive care paramedic unit.

They found the man with critical injuries to his chest.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics the man died at the scene.

A crime scene has been established and an investigation is underway.

Safework NSW has been notified of the death, NSW Police confirmed.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
