I’m a bit confused as such a term never occurs in discussions about ballistics or ammunition making.
Is it the cartridge case or the bullet jacket?

Well, all of what you said is wrong. In fact, his partner - was instrumental in bringing the perpetrator to justice, and according to the Governor, have fully cooperated with the police and FBI. So, there is no evidence to suggest that he an accomplice.

I've just been using the same terminology as what's being reported, but to be precise they're referring to the cartridge case, the metal cylinder that contains the primer, propellant, and projectile.

The reports suggest these messages were engraved into the casings themselves, both on spent shells and the remaining live rounds.

He isn't politically registered and hasn't voted in at least the last 2 elections.

He was born and indoctrinated into a republican family. He hadn't voted for either Trump or Biden. He seems to have had a hatred of Kirk, he doesn't seem to have a position on Trump he may even be a supporter.
