We have judges AND we have courts....
but our judges AND our courts refuse to give commensurate sentences,
to violent criminals.

And our LAWMAKERS [our parliamentarians] refuse to pass 'serious offender laws',
which would MANDATE commensurate sentences,
to violent criminals.

commensurate = = corresponding in size or degree; in proportion.

mandatory = = required by law or mandate; compulsory.

Q.
So what can 'we the people' do about it ??

We really don’t. Trump is NOT using the National Guard for law and order. He couldn’t care less about that, as evidenced in the fact that he has not utilised troops in a single Republican state or city. If he was serious about it, then the first state would’ve been Louisiana, which is Speaker Johnson’s state. No, his use of troops has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with crime and everything to do with his hatred of Democrats, while also having the side effect of trying to take the Epstein files out of the public eye.

She gave out no plan -
just said that more needs to be done – but she didn't tell us what.

Labor has been in power for 11 years and we still don't have a plan.

Some years ago I covered the funeral of a Sudanese kid who was stabbed and died in a condemned house that had become something of a gathering point for local thugs. His killers, two drunken teenage morons, were white, so it came with a ready template: another black victim added to racism’s deadly toll. That was the easy, writes-itself, paint-by-numbers version. But the real story was arrayed on the low brick fence outside the church where the victim was being mourned – at least dozen of the dead kid’s African and Islander friends, and all of them sporting the blue bandanas of the Crips, the infamous Los Angeles street gang.

In front of them a man who would be identified in news reports as a ‘community leader’ – they emerge ever-quotable from the woodwork at moments like these — was insisting African kids hadn’t been given the chance to absorb local culture and attune to it. More grants, more outreach, more social workers – that was the answer. Somehow, though, while Melbourne’s mores defied adoption, the gangsta culture of Compton had sunk right in. Go figure that one.

Agree, my Podiatrist is an African and a gentler more caring man it would be hard to find, unlike some others that have treated me, he tries [and succeeds 99% of the time] to not cause any pain.
One of my wife’s best friends is a Ghanan, a very competent nurse, and she and her husband and children are up there with the best.

First doctor for TOG's bowel cancer was African and a lovely lady... a couple even live up here and they are no trouble at all... and our local Muslims must all be sleepers they are so quiet and love the place so much and the kind people ... Melbourne seems to attract the crazies ... well ... look at the way they vote and look at how 'Labor Majority' crows about Melbadishu never voting Liberal ... they are a funny lot down there.... their councils think banning Australia Day is the Australian thing to do - but only if your native tongue isn't Australian....!!

I hold zero brief for Young Hastie.... I won't go into why .... but seriously - at the moment he has little real opposition... though my choice is Jacinta Price the Straight Talking .. I must be a racist fascist or something.. can't work it out...
