Albo set to announce new taxes

Well it was only a matter of time under a labor government that they introduced a new tax.

With the cost of living rising and crushing simple everyday Australians dreams ( being able to afford food and find shelter) the answer from labor will always be to introduce a tax so after it’s collected and funneled through several over paid and over staff government departments for every dollar collected after all the public servants employed to oversee  are paid  it will likely delivered to our needy around 2cents for every dollar collected.

Still if you have a family living in a car under a bridge it’s always better than nothing I suppose plus it keeps our bloated bureaucracy in very well paid jobs.

Lose/ lose/ win!

Unless you can find a way to earn a minimum of $300000 a year in Australia you’re screwed.

Don’t even think about being able to afford children at that  bare minimum threshold.

I think you are getting a bit ahead of yourself Dave. From the article:

Quote:
Before the event, Anthony Albanese had insisted the government would not implement any new taxes before the next election, due in May 2028, and it would stick to the proposals it made to voters earlier this year. Those were the income tax cuts revealed in the March budget - totalling $536 annually by 2027 - and a contentious 15 per cent tax added to earnings on super balances above $3 million, including unrealised gains.

But Mr Chalmers has now left the door open for introducing new taxes in the next budget, declaring on Sunday, “it remains to be seen”.

Hopefully they introduce a carbon tax.

There is some new tax coming. They can’t help themselves. I actually understand how a carbon tax works from one of your past posts and while I loath any new taxes it’s one I can actually see merit in.

I am generally opposed to taxes also. If we do get a carbon tax, I would like to see it used to raise the tax free threshold significantly, so a large portion of the workforce does not need to file a tax return.

It's communism -

once you have bought your home it should no longer be any business of the Govt.

I agree but we don’t live in an ideal world.

Rates are simply a tax by another name.

A resource tax as so successful in Norway would be fantastic for the country?

Why does our country resource wealth end up in the hands of a handful of individuals?

Regardless, cutting government waste should be the first thing on the agenda before inventing new taxes!

Should increase the GST to 15%, make it apply to everything without exception - as Howard intended - and scrap all of state taxes that were originally supposed to be scrapped by the introduction of the GST.
