I have noticed this trending a couple of years back: Quite a few accidents especially involving red light running which is turning into an epidemic. Only way to bring sanity back to our roads: lots more marked police cars.

Just finished watching that.

I swear Australia's drivers are getting worse as time goes on.

And now that my elderly aunt is in aged care I might be looking at getting rid of my car soon. I'll feel a whole lot safer even though I've had front and rear dashcams for the last 12 years.

Mind you, I did find the first one slightly amusing with the two police cars eventually hitting each other (that was on the Mitchell Freeway here in Perth heading north just out of the city).

Unbelievable. But rural location and a dog means a car is needed right now. “Town” is over 110Km away, doctor, dentist, chemist, IGA half an hour drive away.

Yes, I watched that last night.

As I've said before - I feel a lot safer after getting rid of my car 2 months ago.

Mind you, being a pedestrian doesn't seem to be a whole lot safer, especially in the Perth CBD.

There are two traffic light controlled pedestrian crossings in St. Georges Terrace in the city which are not at road intersections. one near London Court and the other one further up the Terrace near Central Park (Greg would know them) and drivers just continue to sail through even after the lights turn red and pedestrians have the green walk signal.

I'm surprised someone hasn't been killed or seriously injured on these crossings during the many years they've been there. I also wonder why red light cameras have never been set up on these because the government would make a fortune out of them.

*Edit: there's another one of these pedestrian crossings outside Enex100 near Howard St. and St. Georges Terrace.

I'd forgotten about that one until I went through it on the bus earlier today (the bus stopped for the red light at least).

That's 3 places where you take your life into your hands when crossing the Terrace.

Yep, I used those three crossings hundreds of times when I worked in the city - I still use the Enex100/WW and London Court ones a few times a week.

Many drivers just ignore the red lights - Perth drivers really don't like pedestrians.
