I don't trust ATAGI  - they all had a conflict of interest -
they were being paid by the Govt.   Roll Eyes

Ah, memories.

1979 - one Saturday evening at Fairlanes Bowl, Adelaide Terrace. A friend and I started a game of doubles at 5:30pm on one of the 3 Asteroids machines they had there at the time.

We were both still playing the same game of doubles when they turned the machines off at midnight (and our bonus ships filled the top of the screen from one side to the other).  Grin

I still have it on the MAME emulator here.

Wow!   Shocked

I might have actually been there.

I used to go to Fairlanes with my mates and girlfriend (from Toorak Rd in Rivervale) most Saturday nights around that time.

And yeah, we always played the machines.

And on a real hot Sunday afternoon in the summer, Fairlanes was the place to be - they had the best air conditioning in Perth.

It's irrelevant who you trust. Everyone who has an opinion has an agenda. That doesn't mean their opinions aren't valid.

Trusting ATAGI is like trusting a used car dealer that it's a great car
only driven to church on Sunday by an old lady.   Roll Eyes

I've bought many a great car from a used car dealer.

Perhaps it's just you? They can spot an idiot a mile away and take advantage of you! Not very nice of them I must say

Stop stalking me like a bad smell.
You would smell better if you stopped spraying yourself with Roundup and rolling in horse manure and had a shower.

Hey, Greg.

This is one of the many pictures I took at Fairlanes on December 21st, 2006 which was the last day it was open. I worked there as a mechanic for 18 years from July 1988 to December 2006.

It was taken just after 7am when I arrived to do the second last shift ever there. Brian, who was head mechanic for 30 years did the last shift from 3pm until close which was fitting, I suppose.

Wow!  Looks different.

The last time I was there was about 1996.

I suppose I should get back on topic after this. What was the topic? lol.

Anyway, I've put these 3 pictures together showing what Fairlanes looked like between when it opened in November 1962 until it closed in December 2006.

I'll just provide a link, it'll probably look too big on here.

https://imgur.com/a/aV119UD

The first major renovation was done at the end of 1983 and the second at the end of 1995. I couldn't find a picture with the graphics panels lowered in front of the pinsetters for the 2006 picture,

it was another one I took when I arrived on the final day and I was about to drag, wash and oil the lanes. The panel was down on lanes 11 and 12 and you can see the Merry Christmas sign hanging on it.

As you can probably see, the 1983 and 2006 pictures were taken from almost exactly the same spot (I took all 3 of these).  Cool

Back to topic (sorry Bobby).

Love it   Smiley

1983/1988 is how I remember it.
