You can’t expect people who “ want “ to assimilate to be positive if everyone around them openly hates them!
But I suggest people should consider just how hard it is to move to a new country and suffer the hate that they don’t deserve because they started a new life.
I didn’t find it easy and I was born here.
I will always defend my Indian Australian mates.
This thread is full of chattes
Nobody 'hates' them, certainly not 'everyone' ... the innate tribal paranoia of those from The Third World is well known, and we all know that strangers are treated with deep suspicion and often the reaching for the AK, just in case ... India has it division problems, and that does not create a uniform type of Indian arriving here.
Nobody 'hates' Muslims, for example - but they sure go out of their way in too many cases to make people hate them so they feel justified in their own wrongdoings and far too often violent rhetoric.
we have an Iraqi family here - the ones where the wife said, at an election booth I was working at, that voting here was so different - I can see why, YOU? TOG' hairdresser lady from up the road is Turkish and a Muslim - she is one of the best.
This 'hatred' does not exist really - and very, very few Australians actually 'hate' on anyone who arrives here. The hatred is far too often the other way, just like ....... certain other Usual Suspects we have here ... nobody throws Lebs and slope and Cheers into prison for being what they are - it's for what they do.
If we applied the same standard to politicians etc, the country would be far better off.
