Not surprising, but very worrying...

Shifty Schiff is surprisingly naive. If red states like Texas do this, blue states will have to follow suit?

Most of the US are red states. Not only are they going to do this in Texas, if they can, they'll do it in Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Wyoming and every other tiny little rural backwater with a hundred votes or less. The very existence of the modern breed of so-called Republicans relies on this kind of Gerrymandering.

The deck's already stacked. They said it about the last election. This is the big one, they said.

In 2026, we'll see. By the end of this presidential term, the US may well end up in a civil war, in one form or another.

How else do you fight this? Voting? Engaging? Speaking out?

Wouldn't it be nice?

Most Democratic states have independent bodies set up to set electoral boundaries.

Redistricting is set as a 10 year process. This reset is being done between scheduled redistricting.

The vast majority of Republican states are heavily gerrymandered. Very few Democrat states.

Texas is already heavily gerrymandered, This is gerrymandering the gerrymander and as Trump said it is purely about election cheating / election fraud - nothing else.

This is why we see electoral maps showing a sea of read compared to very little blue - Republican held states are heavily into gerrymandering. All this does is prove the case for a body that sets electoral maps independently of political parties or people, such as what we have in Australia with the Australian Electoral Commission.

that says nothing about gerrymanders. Want to try again? Wink

What I have is -

"States currently rated as gerrymandered in favor of Democrats are Illinois, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah and Oregon. This is according to the Princeton Gerrymandering Project. Maps rigged in favor of Republicans are meanwhile in place in Texas, Georgia, Florida, Ohio, South Carolina, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Tennessee and Kansas."

https://www.statista.com/chart/34944/states-given-poor-score-for-partisan-fairne...

So 5 Democrat, although Hochul is doing her best for New York State, 9 Republican, for a total of 14 States out of 50, or 28%.

So overall few states have gerrymanders.

"Hochul plans to gerrymander New York state: What has that meant for Syracuse? "

https://www.localsyr.com/news/local-news/hochul-plans-to-gerrymander-new-york-st...

That would make the split 6:9 Republican. Wink

And before you start "Hochul is doing it because Texas is trying to do it" Democrats tried before and were knocked out by the courts.

"Court rules N.Y. Democrats gerrymandered congressional map"

"Mike Murphy, a spokesperson Democratic Senate Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins, said he was pleased the court affirmed that the Legislature acted within its power to approve the maps."

My error. Now tell us how 6:9/50 is grossly overrepresented. Wink...per Dna -"Very few Democrat states."

Not that they were fewer but very few. Republicans a few more? Wink

You seem to have proven what I said ?

The more big cities  in a state the more Dem it is.
D.C. voted 92% Biden - that's more than Saddam Hussein or or Kim il jong ever got.

Lee's error. Now tell us how humans aren't really responsible for global warming, why Hunter got off his gun form charge and how Hillary is still at large for having 12 classified government messages on a private email server.

Lee's curious.

You?
