Our God is not theirs.

Something that many of the Abrahamic faiths misunderstand...

Yes, monotheism necessarily requires there be only one god... that's not in dispute.

What is in dispute is the nature and the focus of the one god.

For Jews, it's justice and law.

For Christians, it's forgiveness and love.

For Muslims, it's brotherhood and unity.

Equal rights for non-Jewish Israelis were another price they had to pay for recognition of Israeli statehood.

Jewish Israelis generally do not have much love for non-Jewish Israelis.

He had the honesty to call it for what it was and this is just one of many of the things he said which is absolutely correct:

“If I were an Arab leader, I would never sign an agreement with Israel. It is normal; we have taken their country. It is true God promised it to us, but how could that interest them? Our God is not theirs. There has been Anti-Semitism, the Nazis, Hitler, Auschwitz, but was that their fault? They see but one thing: we have come and we have stolen their country. Why would they accept that?”

Well, this is a quote from the personal memoirs of Nahum Goldman in 1978. It is Goldman's recollection of what Ben Gurion might have said 30+ years earlier. Also referenced, with that source, by Benny Morris in 2008.

And patently obvious to all in the years immediately after WW2.

European resistance to the transportation of European Jews into the British Mandate of Palestine immediately after WW2 was muted by the daily revelations of Holocaust atrocities.

It left the Allies hand-wringing and half-hearted, both in attempts to stridently prevent it or vociferously encourage it.

It was the Zionists' Overton Window, which everybody, Jews in particular, believed would close as the world's public became increasingly more desensitised to reports and visuals of Holocaust atrocities.

For Ben-Gurion and the Zionists, it was now or never.

For Ben-Gurion and the rest, future Israeli freedom and democracy were subordinate to the safety, security and healing of Jewish Holocaust survivors, nearly all of whom had lost not just their immediate family, but their entire extended families, and many who were child orphans.

Who were all maimed from years of deprivation and torture, and, in many instances, almost permanently insane.

It also has to be said that many of the Holocaust survivors were the slickest, most street-wise, and many outright criminal, of European Jews.

In a political atmosphere where only the most cunning and/or the most lucky (barely) survived, it's hardly a surprise.

Many on Schindler's now-famous list were petty criminals, black marketeers, and former Jewish members of the Sonderkommando.

These personality types were essential for Zionists to do what had to be done to achieve their goals.

Unless you can find a way to earn a minimum of $300000 a year in Australia you’re screwed.

Don’t even think about being able to afford children at that  bare minimum threshold.
