Who should the Dems run for President in 2027?

Looking ahead to the next Presidential election, who do you think the Democrats should run against whoever the Republicans put up when Trumps' term expires?

I'd like to see the Democrats put up Pete Buttigieg. He is young enough to connect with younger voters but old enough and experienced enough to also connect with older generations. He is well-respected on both sides of the aisle and has served as Transportation Secretary under Biden and also in the military as an officer in military intelligence. He is well spoken, articulate and does well voicing his argument clearly and concisely against those whose point of view differs without ever resorting to personal attacks, unlike some other people we know!

My second choice would be Adam Schiff. He is very experienced and a great speaker, able to make a good argument for his cause or point of view. While older than Buttigieg, he's still young enough to connect with a large range of voter age groups.

Pete Buttigieg would be a good choice.

Maybe Gavin Newsom.

Pete is a great choice.  Fantastic communicator and a good leader.

Trump will need to keep doing what he's doing to destroy the country for the masses to accept a gay man, but Trump's going to do that anyway, so it might be time.

I honestly believe the Dems royally screwed up by not convincing Biden to step down at the end of his first term and let someone else take the fight up with Trump - someone like Buttigieg. I'm sure there was a sense of loyalty and some sentimentality in that decision, but that was a bad mistake when the opponent was Trump - someone who is just brutal. It was clear to all at the end of his term that Biden wasn't up to it mentally or physically. Had they run Buttigieg, I think he'd have either wiped the floor with Trump or at least stopped the Republicans from winning both Houses and minimised the damage.

We're assuming there's even going to be an election in 2028, hell, even midterms before then. That assumption is looking shakier by the day.

We're in uncharted territory now. The Speaker of the House literally shut down the chamber to block a vote on Epstein disclosures, because it would've implicated Trump. Let that sink in. They're protecting a child trafficker's enabler from accountability by dismantling democratic process.

The idea that we're still operating under normal rules and polite parliamentary decorum is laughable. That ship sailed years ago. What we're witnessing is the systematic erosion of every safeguard designed to prevent tyranny.

And what about all those 2nd Amendment fetishists who've spent decades cosplaying as patriots, stockpiling weapons for the day the government turned tyrannical? This should be their moment, by their own logic. But they're silent. No, worse, they're cheering. Clapping like trained seals as the republic collapses in front of them.

Turns out the "well-regulated militia" was just another grift.

Yep, I've been saying all along that there's no guarantee of an election in 2028.

Trump declares to the nation that he's staying on as President and cancels the election.  Simple.

Who will stop him, and how?

The Constitution can't stop him - he doesn't obey the law.

Moreover, SCOTUS says he doesn't need to obey the law.

Does anybody really believe that the military will knock down the doors of the White House and carry Trump out by force?

Trump derangement syndrome
Fareed Zakaria defined the term as "hatred of President Trump so intense that it impairs people's judgment"

While she was never going to rise to the level of Obama in terms of charisma and connecting with people, she would still have been a far better President than Trump could ever be. That's a given. In fact, it's not even debatable.
