What’s the local news out there?
Jul 15th, 2025 at 2:52pm

Well… what could I answer… what stuck in mind to tell.

We visited a dear elder friend in his 80s in hospital after many weeks in intensive care after heart op.
He’s looking very weak with tubes everywhere.
He wanted to know the news…
So what did I report off the cuff…pedos in childcare and machete attacks in big shopping centres!

Not looking good Melbourne  Angry

Oh and there’s talk of raising the GST to 15% !

Moonee ponds stabbing citizen arrest: Accused yelled 'Allahu Akbar'

https://www.theweek.in/news/world/2025/07/14/australia-moonee-ponds-stabbing-cit...

At this stage, its every man for themselves ..

Melbourne voters getting what they vote for.

Meanwhile, this Jacinta Andrews government are pulling funding in all area country areas as no one out here gave them any votes.

Look at the electoral boundaries that they have adjusted - win the city, win the state election.

All the best for your friend..

Pretty normal news day in south east Queensland. Home invasions. Stabbings. Homeless crisis worsening and tent cities are appearing everywhere, big political concerns over how this might affect the “ image “ of the Brisbane Olympic Games.
Laws being passed to ban being homeless.
LNP government chasing the CFMU union again to try and control the taxpayer money in the billions $$ building of Olympic venues.8

Lessons hard learned by the wasted taxpayer money in the failed commonwealth games.

Mostly just stabbing and murders with many assaults, domestic and just totally random and the issue with the homeless tent cities and what can be done to hide them so qld doesn’t look third world.

Apparently our hospitals are overwhelmed and patients are being asked to sleep in seats and the traffic is horrendous.

Pretty normal news day up here in paradise.

Gee Dave. You're close. A 90 year old woman was found with the hat in her possession and her kids demanded that she be tasered, as she refused to give it back to the Cops on bicycles. Luckily though, the wind blew it out of her hands again ...and blew her over as well. The kids are seeking a million dollars in a lawsuit for grandma's hip replacement.
Our local area are up in arms for cheaper deodorant.

I had to travel deeper into the the sun and light state today for work and catch up with friends from a past neighbourhood I once’s live.

The local news is that a baby was thrown into a lake and left to drown.

Stabbing murder of a man who found two teenagers in his home late at night.

The traffic congestion from Brisbane to Noosa is affecting domestic tourism as it’s now far quicker and cheaper to fly to Fiji from Brisbane than waiting in traffic for hours to reach the Sunshine Coast on a long weekend.

The hospitals are cancelling operations because the flu (covid) is now again epidemic here and despite both local councils and the state government directions to force police  and rangers to destroy the endless display of  large homeless tent Cities from the border to Cooktown just isn’t working.

It’s terrible frustrating for all levels of government that they don’t just disappear despite constantly being told they can’t be homeless.

A “ final solution “ is being hinted at because they can’t be seen during the upcoming  billion dollar taxpayer funded Brisbane Olympic Games.

Her solicitor will claim she suffered from dementia and argued that despite the multiple shoplifting charges against her from the local Iga aren’t relevant because she’s seriously rich and willing to pay me a million dollars to drag this out for as long as she lives.

She then asked for an adjournment and flew to Paris just for the fun of it .

The Queensland government might have to use the Western Australian government's 'playbook' they used during the 2011 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) here in Perth.

For the duration of CHOGM, all of Perth's homeless 'magically' disappeared from the streets - the State government found temporary accommodation for all of them.

But, as soon as CHOGM was over, the homeless were all back out on the streets again. And most of them are still there 14 years later (and it's getting worse).

In other news, while many Brisbane residents have been complaining for 5 years about aircraft noise since the new runway was opened (they were told most flights could take off and land over Moreton Bay using both runways but they were lied to), the government is now concerned about aircraft noise affecting the Olympic village for 2032 (paywalled but you get the idea). There's even talk about moving the village to get away from the noise.

Ordinary residents complain - nothing or very little gets done.

Anything that might affect the $$$$ rolling in - immediate action is taken.

Just another day in the "lucky country" (but only if you're a pollie or big businessman).

It will be interesting what happens.

The Sydney Olympic saw the state government herd all  the homeless North to Port Macquarie ( now seven hills by the sea)in an effort to avoid any negative overseas adverse news.

I totally understand the sentiment and frustration from our government.

You can’t waste billions of taxpayer dollars to hold a two week sporting event and then have the world exposed to our government complete failing to care for our own!?

It’s really much more important use of taxpayer dollars to spend billions to see people run really fast!

Voters in Tasmania have the choice this weekend what they want.

Stadiums or homes?

I will be down there soon and update on the local news.

Didn't all the homeless in Sydney suddenly find themselves accommodated somewhere else during the G7 photoshoot with Koalas and harbour bridge? Very expensive tourism act on behalf of foreign leaders.
