The woman who was behind the wheel of a car in Melbourne when it fatally struck a pedestrian and seriously injured two others, including a toddler, will not be interviewed today, 9News understands.
Police believe a 91-year-old female driver lost control of a Toyota Yaris on Coleman Road in Wantirna South about 12.20pm yesterday.
A 59-year-old woman died at the scene, a 60-year-old man was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries and a two-year-old boy was seriously injured.

Police provided the update on the victims' ages and conditions overnight and said the driver remained in hospital with minor injuries.
Police had hoped to interview her overnight but she is now not expected to be interviewed today, 9News understands.
It's believed the vehicle travelled out of control for about 50 metres before mounting a footpath and striking the adults, both from Wantirna South, and the child, from behind.
The Toyota then continued down Coleman Road and flattened a street sign before driving through a fence and coming to rest in a park 200 metres away.
The woman who died at the scene was initially believed to be aged in her 30s or 40s.
Police said the 60-year-old man was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a critical condition with life-threatening injuries and the two-year-old was taken to the Royal Children's Hospital with serious injuries.
"It is every likelihood that it could be a young family, but that is unclear to us at this stage," Superintendent Justin Goldsmith said.

"We haven't got a lot of details from the driver. The driver's suffered some very minor injuries, but obviously terribly shaken by the incident which is why we've taken the driver to hospital for assessment."
It was unclear whether the driver suffered a medical episode, Goldsmith said.
"We don't have enough information to say whether speed was a contributing factor," Goldsmith said.
"It is a downhill section of road, so if there has been a lack of control there is the possibility the car could have picked up speed as it travelled down Cleman Road."
A caller to 3AW earlier claimed a car mounted the footpath and hit multiple people "at high speed".
"There's four ambulances there, police galore and all the roads are blocked off. It's quite horrendous," 3AW caller Anne said.

"Then the car took off down past near the playground."
Aerial footage showed emergency services setting up a tent to cover the car in a park, immediately adjacent to play equipment.

No, not in Victoria you don't.

My mother is 88yrs old and I have just stopped her from driving for her own safety and others on the road. Her doctor also approved her for her license. Doctors only do health checks and not driving tests but have the final say on elderly people keeping their licenses.

I knew a guy who was still driving at 100 years of age.
At 101, just a few weeks after his birthday, he found himself feeling somewhat incapable and pulled off to the side of the road to declare his innings and rang a friend. He's still alive in an Aged Facility at 103.
I felt privileged to have got to know him for at least 6 months and when I asked him his secret to batting up a century? He replied (very switched on guy) " Marry a French woman".

A 60-year-old grandfather hit by an out-of-control car alongside his wife and two-year-old grandson in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs on Thursday has died from his injuries.

The Wantirna South man suffered life-threatening injuries when a vehicle mounted a footpath in Coleman Road and struck the trio around 12.20pm on July 10.

Police said he died in hospital on Saturday evening.

They said on ABC 24 news that a medical episode is being investigated as the cause.

Over 75 & it's every year in QLD

Got a lot to do with driver/doctor relationship & how old the doctor is too.

I have to have one every year because I have Sleep Apnea - I've had to do this for about 15 years - I'm 69 now.

There are a few medical conditions that are required to be declared/reported to your TMR.....and you are legally obliged to do so.

Yet there are still 1,000s & 1,000s of people who do not declare reportable conditions.

They along with all the drug & drunk drivers are the ticking time bombs on our roads.

I had to report my apnea as a Train Driver because I was classed as a Cat.1 employee.

That's why the medical should be every 12 months - not 3 years.

A lot can happen in 3 years once you're over 75.

There should be no coercion between doctor and patient.
