Must say haven’t seen Socks doing much that could be considered idiotic apart from lying down in muddy puddles when it is freezing cold.

Her legs are so long compared to her body size—and so much longer, absolutely and relative to body size than Candy, Tiffy and Demi’s legs—that I sometimes get blown away.

Dog is hidden under her blanket. Hidden, apart from legs sticking out like she doesn’t know what to do with them. Or her head sticks out here and her legs stick out from a different spot like a metre away!

Or she stretches her back and legs (“Don’t need to stretch your legs” I say, “they are long enough!”

Sometimes she stretches but seems to draw in her neck making her head appear weird, like it is a different head!

Better finish this, the Boss wants to go for a walk and I better hop to it!

Dogs being idiots—dogs at the vets.

Can’t say I remember my dogs being idiots.

I remember walking Tiffany to the vet, opening the door to the surgery—and Tiffany turning around to go back home  Grin

Just because you are tiny (Tiffy weighed just 2.5kg) does not mean you can’t be feisty. One year the vet, not asking me to hold Tiffany, not injecting into a loose bit of skin between her shoulders just stuck the needle into her side. He got a handful of sharp teeth.

The next year the vet we saw was a young guy built like a refrigerator, looked like a rugby player. While I jeered openly this guy wrapped yards of cloth around Tiffy’s head as a muzzle. While Tiffy could break skin if she really bit that was about it.

No further attempts to muzzle Tiffany occurred.

Demi had some epic battles at the vet. The thing is: the vaccination for heartworm stings as it is injected.

As I stated before, one time they muzzled Demi—her bite could break skin and then some! Wasn’t enough so treats were provided and Demi ate these through the muzzle not giving a hoot as to what the vet was doing.

The next year, the last injection, the vet wrapped Demi so she couldn’t offer a defence.

Talking about vets—why do they all stock their waiting rooms with like a ton of kibble?

Kibble is VERY highly processed food, over processed, very unhealthy as the sole or main source of nutrition for dogs.

Kibble is handy for on the road—no muss, no smell. It is NOT suitable as the sole food given the dog. If you give your dog kibble then give him some raw food: a raw egg, chopped veges, a bit of meat. Even milk or cheese.

Obviously, give your dog bones to chew to clean its teeth and provide some calcium.

Don’t give your dog all the fat from your food!

Two legged critters behind the wheel or why is my car insurance so high?

Plenty stupidity

Plenty entitlement

FFS, slow down in heavy rains/wet roads etc etc. Don’t run red lights, don’t drive on the wrong side of the road. Huge trucks/semis have huge blind spots, give them plenty of space.

Watch These Two Rescue Calves Become Peas In A Pod

Couldn’t carry two calves in my Mazda! Trouble enough fitting Socks! Those looong legs of hers means she just fits on the back seat. When I drove to Geelong to start my life in Tasmania—which I love BTW, better -6°C than 46°C and climbing—the back seat was full of my junk. I jammed a pillow between the front passenger seat and the left front door, filled the leg space with my junk with a pillow on top and Socks still was squashed up. Ah well, only one day.

Infants and dogs:

Sweet—but better have someone very near supervising.

I think Socks—19 weeks old on arrival in the pound so possibly had two homes, two owners before me—had her tail pulled unmercifully by a toddler. Possibly the toddler’s parents watching proudly.

There was an incident involving Socks and a toddler here. I think her secure home here, the boundaries I enforce and especially the walking and running I let her do, the lure coursing runs, the running in the dog park the long walks 2-3 times a week etc has washed all that out of her mind.

I am still VERY careful when toddlers are around but think Socks is fine now. She does have a very sweet nature generally.

Was a family around the corner had a couple toddlers. I explained to the mother what happened earlier and said I would be on my guard and careful if her kiddies and Socks were near each other, urged her to keep an eye on her kiddies if Socks and I approached.

What made the Mad Hatter in “Alice in Wonderland” and real hatters of that time period mad? Hatters, hat makers all turned “mad” at the time.

Any ideas?
