Arthritis, cataracts the obvious problems but others may exist in older cats and dogs.

Blind Rescue Dog Stands At The Pantry Waiting For His Treats

Ahahah this one hit something in me. I have mentioned our chihuahua Tiffany. A purebreed chihuahua but with undershot bottom front teeth that meant she could not be shown or bred, so a niece gave it to Mum a while after Dad died.

Tiffany went blind age 10. I guess as the cataracts grew she could not even see dark and light. Her joy of life dimmed, I saw her carefully negotiate a wide path through the lounge to miss all known obstacles. Suddenly, cancer in liver and/or kidneys, Tiffany received the needle of mercy that removed pain.

So a story about a blind dog hits home hard.
