Good points Valkie.
Universities have just focused on money over quality education since the 90's and the influx of student visas over local spots.
As for Art though. There are two types.
The fake old Art is based on the Media of Music & Entertainment that focuses on the Artist as celebrity, goes with the old style of paint, etc and is about celebrity vanity like the Archibald, tattoos and people looking like radical freakoids with tacky fashions.
The REAL Art is conservative, Right Wing, not anti-political statement and modern in that it now harnesses Computer & AI tools that allow real Artists to make big money in industries galore.

Media Lefty Art is about artistic as Gordon Ramsey and his big mouth is Political.    Grin
Media Lefty Art is 'old fashioned' and mentally simple & lazy.
Real Right Wing Art (like Walter Burley-Griffith) is New and always progressive and created by highly intelligent people.

Universities offer 80% theory/paperwork and 20% practical.
TAFE offers the reverse benefit.
You can imagine where the better Artists come from.

University in Australia isn’t even a degree factory anymore.

It’s a citizenship factory.

By studying higher education ( giggling) in Australia you can get an Australian citizenship.

That’s what they are selling.

Immigration by stealth.

That's worse!
When in Sydney, many yellow Asian students, even a few Indian would try to race bait me by boasting they come here to study and root Ausdie chick's at the University parties.
In a way, its true. If you walked around the Sydney Unis & cbd - see heaps of white girls partnered to yellow Asian & Indian guys.
Seems Aussie guys can't get into Unis and into the chick's as well.

Then we have the ultimate waste of space and time.....Arts degrees.
If you are incapable of doing ANYTHING and are too stupid to actually be educated.
You get into an Arts degree and become absolutely worthless to society.
And it's these deadbeats who join the front and twisted groups in universities.

I was doing a degree combined with an Arts degree, back in the late 1990s. I quit after 6 months. But I kept the schedule of what was involved in the Arts portion of the degree. Given that my university card allowed me access to the library to borrow out books, I printed out the list of the reading material for most of the classes that I was not going to take. Over the next 4 years (including the time pass my university card's expiry) I would read most of the textbooks/reading materials that I would have done, had I not quit the course.

A little over 20 years ago, I wrote up a thesis on some geography topic. This was back in the days before I became disillusioned about the world, etc, etc. The thesis was posted to some academia website and published. I only remembered because there have been dozens of notifications being sent yearly to my email address, from people referencing my work. It goes to show how much research skills developed can lead to a prolific ability to write an articulate essay.

Yeah, but unless you are combining your Arts degree with something else, you are not going to get anywhere in the employment field. All you have done is show that you are competent in researching.

In recent years, I have come to find that the local campus is just one drug den. When you have a guy on $900,000/yr fronting the media cameras and saying how everything is "great", whilst he shows off a remote-controlled car, you kind of wonder why he has a job in the first place. The fact that the university will put their hurt feelings ahead of your academic reputation, says a lot about universities being of any real use to society.

That is because it is Sydney. Sydney is the most effeminate city in Australia. And going by your reputation, Jasin, you would probably be sitting in a chair watching an Indian bang some Aussie chick.

Very few real Australians would be caught dead interacting with an Indian outside the workplace.

When Melbourne invaded Sydney with its Sydney Swans, so too with their Matdi Gras.
When Sydney invaded Melbourne with its Melbourne Storm, so too with their Housos.

Ohhh. I've snagged my share of darkies. Don't you worry about that.  Wink Grin

Adelaide’s The Advertiser reported on Thursday morning that across the nation 24 universities each employed more than five people paid better than their respective premiers. Yet these people seem powerless over their own institutions, and never seem to be held responsible as politicians are.

Failures by university leaders reflect a wider surrend9er of public sector institutions to managerialist box-ticking exacerbated by DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion).

This is also a problem in the Department of Defence and in the military where leaders have been incapable of sensible procurement decisions for decades. It’s why Australia has no working drones, often no working submarines and very few working surface ships.

Ditto Treasury, where the former powerhouse of the national bureaucracy seems more interested in climate change than economics. Add the ABC, where management and the board exert no control over editorial content.

This column reckons the university sector has been in decline since the Labor reforms of former education minister John Dawkins in 1987 that dismantled the colleges of education that used to educate teachers and turned many into regional universities.

In effect, at our universities today we have overseas students competing for private placements that often have little to do with national skills shortages. Of course the unis squealed about Burke’s changes to student visas: nationally they make 27.5 per cent of their total revenue from this cohort.

Australia is putting more people through tertiary training than ever before, but we have crippling trained labour shortages in many sectors.

Today with a population of 28 million, Australia hosts three million non-citizens. One in three Australians is now born overseas, more than double the number in the US. Sydney University has the largest overseas enrolment with 48 per cent. But most big capital cities have foreign enrolments above 30 per cent.

Speaking in the lower house, Mr Leeser accused the nation’s tertiary institutions of allowing antisemitism to fester on campuses while arguing about the “semantics” of a definition of antisemitism.

“In far too many cases, you have allowed Jew-hate to become normalised on your campuses. It always hides behind the fig leaf that the abuse and intimidation is not antisemitic, just anti-Zionist or anti-Israel,” Mr Leeser said.

“We now have the ridiculous situation where conduct that is antisemitic at one campus on one side of Sydney is acceptable on another campus on the other side of Sydney, because, rather than show leadership and take a strong position, you have argued the semantics.

“You have fallen at the first hurdle. If I were you, rather than focusing on definitional issues, I’d be more worried about the attitudes I was allowing to take root.”

“Perhaps it is a coincidence that one of the two Bondi attackers came to Australia on a student visa,” Mr Leeser said. “Perhaps it is only chance that the pilot on the Flydubai flight to Israel, Hamam al-Hammami, a man who planned an antisemitic 9-11-style terrorist attack that involved him crashing his plane into the Tel Aviv passenger terminal to kill as many people as possible, was radicalised while studying at RMIT.

“But if I were you, I would be terrified by the antisemitic attitudes we have seen take root on your campuses.”
