1st time listening to Pink Floyd

I am envious people have not heard Dark Side of the Moon.

Some people really 'go on the trip' as they listen.
Most are wrong footed on how it progresses.
Really really expert musically people are wrong footed and in the end just go with it.

I follow that second guy on YouTube.

DSOTM is an absolute classic.

I must have listened to it at least 200 times.

The first time was back in about 1975 - I listened to it through headphones and was blown away.

1st time I heard it I was about 14 years old and at my sisters place.
Could not understand it, cycled home thinking it was a stupid album the whole way.
Got home (15 kms away), got my money from my piggy bank, cycled to the local shops and bought it.

It doesn't surprise me at all.  Gen Z is a generation of self-centred,
know-it-all, smug, self-entitled cretins.  That they're unfamiliar with
some of the greatest music and musicians of the twentieth century
doesn't come as any great revelation.  They've grown up with the likes
of Justin Bieber, Jay-Z, Ed Sheeran, or Miley Cyrus.  This explains a lot LOL.

Not long ago first born asked me, dad since when has Money for Nothing been such a good song?

I said, hmm, about since I was on a year 9 excursion to Canberra pashing 'Simone' on the back seat blasting that album on the ghetto blaster.

Thanks, dad..

Pink Floyd Rocks Back To No. 1

Pink Floyd is back in charge of an albums ranking in the United Kingdom, the country where the pioneering group got its start. The band recently scored a new No. 1 album with At Pompeii - MCMLXXII, and now, a month after the set debuted, it has returned to the summit. With another moment in the spotlight, the collection becomes one of a very small number of projects from the rock outfit to rack up multiple frames atop the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart.

While Dylan claimed Woody Guthrie as his primary role model, Guthrie's lyrics were always plain-speaking and direct... 'This land is Your land, this land is My land... this land was made for you and me'... Dylan's, on the other hand, masqueraded as plain-speaking, but often he seems to have gotten ahead of himself trying to be clever and plain... ending up instead with flash wordplay and eloquent bullshit - the antithesis of Guthrie's style.

Bought DSOTM in 1974 as an 18 yr old.

Was one of the best in car travelling albums ever.

Still a great album.

Can't count how many times I have listened to it fully or certain songs over the years.

It's ageless.

Money is one of my favourites.

I have favourites of most classic rock bands.

Uriah Heep - Gypsy

Jethro Tull - Locomotive Breath

Led Zeppelin - Whole Lotta Love & Black Dog

Black Sabbath - Paranoid, Children of the Grave, Supernaut.

Deep Purple - Strange Kind of Woman

Santana - Black Magic Woman/Oye Como Va

Just a few.  Grin

All that I remember when first hearing the Dark Side of the Moon, was that it was very dark indeed that night.
